Zazu crowdfunding deck
1. Zazu is a digital-only bank for the African
market. Our account takes minutes to open
and the accompanying app encourages
customers to create saving goals.
3. Source:FinScope,2015; Qualitative interviews, 2016, Bank Of Zambia,2016
Bank account penetration and account
switching rates in Zambia are very low
because:
In urban Zambia, to open and operate an
account costs 11% of someone’s income
and in rural Zambia - 34%.
Regular accounts take weeks to obtain
and KYC procedures prevent people in
low income groups from opening one.
In contrast, a Zazu account can be
opened within the app, in minutes. Zazu’s
fees, are well below industry standard.

4. Zazu is re-loadable pre-paid card
supported with a smartphone app,
showing users in real time, where and
how money is spent.
The founders spent months in Zambia,
South Africa and Zimbabwe before a
single line of code was written. The end
result is a banking experience that
a n t i c i p a t e s y o u r n e x t m o v e ,
understands your spending history, and
offers timely advice.
Tomorrow’s Bank. Today.
5. Marketplace Remittances
Remittances sent by African migrants have become
an important source of external finance for countries
in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. In many African
countries, these flows are larger than foreign direct
investment and portfolio debt and equity flows. In
some cases, they are similar in size to official aid from
multilateral and bilateral donors. Remittance markets
in Africa, however, remain less developed than other
regions.
Remittance costs tend to be significantly higher in
Africa both for sending money from outside the
region and for intra-Africa (South-South) remittance
corridors.
We fix this.
As an existing customer, we have already verified your
identity, and with our partnerships, you can send and
receive money from anywhere in the world, instantly.

10. Aside from traditional banks and micro-finance
institutions, there is no player with our model in
Southern Africa.
Zambia is the perfect place to start, unlike
anywhere in the world, the market leader in
mobile money is not an MNO, but a private
company. Phone ownership levels are increasing
as is demand for sophisticated financial services.
Expansion plans exist to launch in 4 cities by
2019. These plans are modelled on GDP per
capita, smartphone ownership levels, upward
social mobility and other factors.
