Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) Module: The students study the concept of using dyes to plant dyes to capture the solar energy to convert it into electrical energy simulating the natural process “photosynthesis”. They use the workshop-gained knowledge in DSSC to invent new products.
They used control dye blackberries and tested the red berries as test dye. They dream to use a DSSC-Derived energy supply to save the energy in operating the airplanes.
2. Introduction
We are albairaqstars team our project is about DSSC , DSSC is low
cost belonging to the group of thin film solar cell , it is based on a
semiconductor. Our product evolves around the production of
energy has enough or replace the energy used in opening garage
door’s.
3. ACTIVITY1
INVESTIGSATING THE PHOTOSYNTHESIS
OF PLANT DISKS
Aim :
1- what is the main factor in this
experiment.
2-what is the best color for absorbing
light .
Results:
1- when bubbles come out that mean
oxygen get out .
2-The main factor in the experiment is the
light intensity.
3- we put soap to make the disks sink down
4- we cover the beaker that photosynthesis
cant happen .
5-The best color for plant for absorbing light
is color white.

SEPARATING LEAF PIGMENT USING PAPER
CHROMATOGRAPHYAim:
1- to discover how many pigment in the
leave .
2- How chromatography solvent can help
us in this experiment
3- how many type of pigment we can have
in the leave.
Results:
1- chromatography solvent contain
90%petrolum ether+10%aceton,and its can
separate color .
2- the pigment travelled first was
xanthophyll
3- the pigment travelled shortest was
chlorophyll A .

Making a dye-sensitized solar cell
Aim:
1- to know which is the best
natural pigment for the DSSC.
2-to know what is the main
factor for getting high amount
of energy.
Results: we learn that amount of
electricity depends on many
several things :
1-color of dye we use ,compared
with other groups.
2-light intensity
3- use another solution instead of
using (KI)solution that give us
more energy.
8. Our product idea
DSSC-Operated Garages Doors in Airports
As we can see there is a new airport
will open in 27th of may ,there is a
huge room in this airport and it got a
big door, the extension of the door is
220 meter and its take 15 min to open
, so we think to make this door
operate using DSSC.
But we will face some problems , like
the DSSC need to change the (KI)
solution from time to anther and some
other problems , so we will work on a
plan so that there is a device that
make maintenance for the DSSC , and
if the DSSC breakdown we can have
other extra DSSC
9. Product idea
1-DSSC : to give energy to the motor to work .
2-Liquid battery: we put the liquid battery to
store the energy so it can work in night
and cloudy days .
3- Motor : we use it to make the door move .
We have to calculate the number of DSSC
according to its production of volts.
The cells can be connected sequentially.
