2. Synopsis
A short film about a bad psychoactive drug trip.
Main character is spiked at a house party and tries to get back to room
whilst experiencing the effects of a spiked drink.
Whilst travelling through the house, the main character discovers strange
happenings that are unexplainable to them.
The main character can see different things like distorted images and
colours that are too bright which correspond with a psychedelic drug trip.
The whole video should be between 4-5 minutes long
3. Art form
I would say the art form that I would be using in my creative film would be
a surrealist art form.
This is because the things that the character will be seeing throughout the
journey will be of that art form.
Since we looked at surrealism in a previous lecture, I thought it would be a
great art form to explore in my own way whilst having inspiration from
other sources.
I would like to bring surrealism into a realistic form and not look into the
visual art aspect of it, I would like to create some of my own real visual
surrealism elements within my creative video piece.
4. Inspiration
Gaspar Noe – creates films involved with the psychology and movement of
psychedelic drugs and how people behave and react whilst under the
influence of them. I would like to use his technique of a single take as well
as the technical camera skills he uses. (His use of moving the camera
upside down and sideways.)
Konstantin Plotnikov – He created a short film based on psychedelic drugs
which gave me inspiration to edit in a similar fashion to him. (His use of
bright colours and motion blur.)
Salvador Dali – I have seen much of Dali’s work in the past which has also
been an inspiration, his surrealist portraits and other paintings and
sculptures have made me think that I would like to incorporate some
strange objects or creatures in my creative film.
5. Target audience
15 – 25
I think that this age range would be a good ballpark as people within this
age group tend to experiment more as they are going through college and
then university, sometimes with drugs.
I chose this age group because this short creative piece could raise
awareness about how scary and dangerous drugs are.
