Applies to all interactions,
really
Based on Tracom’s Social Styles: Analytical | Driver |
Expressive | Amiable
3. The number one cause of conflict is a difference in Pace.
Analytical and Amiable styles have a slower pace.
Driver and Expressive have a Faster Pace
Be Extra Aware of this as you make your Presentation
If you know your audience member has a slow style,
• Speak as slowly as can be natural for you.
• Don’t rush into your response. Some preamble would be

reverse might be better!
• Be aware that you are likely to be frustrated by someone in
the opposite quadrant. Don’t blame them.
• You’re still authentic even when you have to flex your style
repeatedly. And you’ll have to if you’re speaking to several
people

5. This might be even bigger than the huge effect that Pace has.

When you find yourself frustrated or annoyed by someone,
including in a presentation, know that with the right
knowledge and effort you can manage the interaction.
You’ll have a better experience and more success.

A study found when seated near someone who had an opposite strength as
their own, the strength of their neighbor rubbed off on them. (HBR)
• Make the effort to understand styles and how to adapt
• You can’t do that if you don’t KNOW YOURSELF
