• Peer Review
• Ethical Publishing Practices
• Timeliness
• International Editorial Conventions
• Full Text English
• References in the Roman alphabet.
78. 2- EDITORIAL CONTENT
• Our editors determine if the
content of a journal under
evaluation will enrich the
database or if the topic is
already adequately addressed
in existing coverage.
79. 3-INTERNATIONAL FOCUS
• Editors look for international diversity
among the journal’s contributing
authors, editors, and editorial
advisory board members at a level that is
appropriate for the journal’s target
audience.
•
80. 3-INTERNATIONAL FOCUS
• If the journal’s content is aimed at
an international audience then we expect to
find an internationally diverse group of
authors, editors and editorial advisory board
members contributing to it.
•
81. 3- INTERNATIONAL FOCUS
• We are also interested in
excellent regional Journals.
Regional journals often target a
local, rather than an international,
audience requiring less emphasis
on extensive international
diversity.
84. Journal selection criteria
Journal Editorial Policy
• Credible editorial policy
• Type of peer review
• Diversity in geographical distribution of

have an ISSN that has been confirmed by the ISSN
International Centre).
►The title should have English language abstracts
and article titles.
►The title should have references in Roman script.
►The title should have a publication ethics and
publication malpractice statement.
92. • The selection committee meets three
times a year, in February, June, and
October. Approximately 180 journals are
examined at each meeting.
Approximately 12-15% of the journals
reviewed are recommended for
inclusion in MEDLINE.

PubMed Selection Criteria
95. 1- Critical Elements
• Scope and coverage:
• Quality of content:
• Scientific merit of a journal's content
• The validity, importance, originality,
and contribution to the coverage of
the field of the overall contents of
each title
96. 2- Quality of editorial work:
information about the methods of
selecting articles,
especially on the explicit process of
external peer review;
statements indicating adherence to
ethical guidelines;
evidence that authors have disclosed
financial conflicts of interest;
97. 2- Quality of editorial work:
timely correction of errata;
explicit responsible retractions as
appropriate;
and opportunity for comments and
dissenting opinion.
Sponsorship by national or international
professional societies may be considered.
98. 2- Quality of editorial work:
• Additional factors that are considered include
the publisher and/or sponsoring organization’s
history and corporate structure, longevity, and
record of performance regarding such issues
as: quality of publications; experience in
scholarly publishing; involvement with the
scientific community
99. 2- Quality of editorial work:
• disclosure of and adherence to print and
online publication standards and business
practices (e.g., advertising standards, ethical
guidelines, and conflict of interest
disclosures); and promotion of editorial
integrity and independence.
100. •3-Production quality: Quality of
the layout, printing, graphics,
• journals of archival importance should be
printed on acid-free paper.
•4- Audience:MEDLINE is intended
primarily for those in the health professions:
researchers, practitioners, educators,
administrators, and students.

factor adds a great prestige to the
journal.
• Note that Impact factors are
calculated yearly for those journals
that are indexed in the Journal

103. DOAJ & IF !!!!
• DOAJ does not believe in the value of IF.
• There is only one official IF that is generated
by Thomson Reuters- a profit-making Org.
• This runs against the ethics and principles of
open access
• Displaying impact factors on a home page is
strongly discouraged
• DOAJ perceives this as an attempt to lure
authors in a dishonest way.

ISSN / E-ISSN: 1687-8671 /
Publisher: Zagazig University
Dear Sir,
The title mentioned above has been evaluated for inclusion in Scopus by the Content Selection &
Advisory Board (CSAB). The review of this title is now complete and the CSAB has advised that the
title has been rejected and will not be included in Scopus at the present time. For your
information, the reviewer comments are copied below:
Thank you for submitting your journal to SCOPUS inclusion . There are a number of issues that you
need to consider to be included in this international database - which you need to address if that
is a goal for the future. At present the journal appears to publish mainly papers from the
University staff members and the editorial board members are also the same. None of the editors
appear to have published in papers which have citations -all factors essential to demonstrate
international scholarly community membership and a strong evidence based quality culture. There
is a need to include some kind of Publisher Ethics statement as the norm for the future as well.
Author guidelines were helpful and clear but a worrying lack of papers included in the 2 years of
issues to date .Consider also the peer review system .
If in the future these comments are addressed, you may decide to submit a new application at any
time after the following date: March 2014.
Yours sincerely,
The Scopus Team
