The Digital Factory is a deFacto in today's life, It is one in a series of human civilization development phases whose big boom effects have been echoing the globe loudly; Google, Facebook, WhatsUp, Über, Alibaba , Vodafone are just some.
In this Factory however the manufacturing and production material are not the like the typical substances used but rather "Information" .
Such material you don't extract from oilfields or mines but rather from your IT systems and the for the purpose to acquire new capabilities . Those in turn will enhance the current ones in your system and so on taking the form of a closed feedback cycle.
Information has become a critical national asset worldwide. Its quality, availability, application and usage has been found to be directly correlated to nations' economic and living standard ( ITU Measuring the Information Society Report )
Yet there are countries outside who risk themselves to miss this "factorization" phase again to increase its GDP debt further and become even poorer
This presentation describes major milestones which gave birth the " Digital Factory", its characteristics, management processes to assure the its output and a "realization" project , valid as a "Concept of Operation " initiative when the national level is considered.
The CONOPS selected organization is a famous academic technical Institute which is looking into modernizing its academic vision via curriculum and philosophy of education upgrades for the best of its students, staff, and graduates.
However as in any new initiative, a high level Risk Register should be listed early.
This list is derived from similar experienced implementing the "Digital Factory" or Digitalization as otherwise known.
