Editor's Notes
In a book we get clues about characterization based on direct comments from the narrator, descriptions of the character’s appearance, a character’s TSAs (thoughts, speech, and actions), and other characters’ TSAs in response to the character. The same strategies come into play on social media: 1) a narrator (profile holder) makes direct comments about his/her personality, 2) a narrator provides pictures of his/her physical appearance, 3) a narrator provides TSAs (status updates, Instagram posts, notes, comments on other “narrators’” posts, banner picture), and 4) TSAs from other narrators in response to the main narrator (comments on posts, tagging in posts).
