Introduction
In this assignment, we are required to create a video clip
that requires at least 5 different concepts that we have learnt
throughout the whole semester in Social Psychology. We are
also required to write a report based on the short video and to
present the short video during class. We are divided into
groups of four, which includes Adele Lu, Calvin Wong, Tey
Cheng Fern and Yeoh Sin Yuen. After a short discussion and 4
meetings, we have decided to create a short film named
“Smoking Kills”. This short film is about a guy losing his good
friend because of smoking, involving love ones having hard
time taking in those incident and eventually changing some of
their life style but still being judge by others at the end. After
much research and analysis for our scripts, the concepts that
are used in this short film are social influence, confirmation bias,
post decision dissonance, upward counterfactual thinking and
stereotyping. Lastly, we hope that this video will allow students
to relate about the concepts in social psychology for their
everyday life.

Procedure
All of us each agreed to come out with a story and post
the story in our whatsapp group chat. After that, we voted for
the story we think it is the best to explain the different
concepts. Finally, we decided to choose Calvin Wong’s story.
His story is about a guy who lost his good friend because of
hard-core smoking causing him to lose his life from heart attack
and lung failure.
After deciding on Calvin Wong’s story, we discussed about
the theories and concepts that can be included in the video.
Adele then wrote the script of the video and the next day, we
started filming. We decided to film the whole video within
Taylor’s University Lakeside Campus because all of our
members have transportation problems and the only suitable
way is we meet up in campus.
The day we started filming, Calvin gave a short brief about
his story and the roles that each of us will be acting on. We
used one day to film this video and about 4 hours to finish
shooting the whole video scenes.
Lastly, last video editing is done by Adele and Cheng Fern,
using the video editing software, Movie Maker. We divided the
report that we needed to do into different parts for each
member to complete so it can be done as soon as possible
before the submission date.
