Feasibility report
1. PROJECT FEASIBILITY REPORT
Project Description:
The reason why this project is going to be worked on is because like the time of world war two
in 1940 all the men went to the war and women were left to do the jobs of men too. The problem
arose on what basis the career for the women should be decided. As a solution to the problem
Katherine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers came up with a unique solution called Myer-Briggs
Type Indicator which actually extended the Jungian personality types. With the help of this
solution the career were decided for the women at that time.
Currently many students are dropping out of the education, where finance and other problems are
found one unique problem is that the students were unable to understand the subjects they
enrolled in. As stated by elders with wisdom that all of us are best at one domain while not even
of mandatory level in other domains. Most people in my country only take the difficult subjects
or career because either of their belief that the job career has a value and they will be able to cash
it in bulk or on the advice of their elders ignoring their own interests and capabilities. As a result
in the middle of the degree they drop out due to poor grades.
The project undertaken is to resolve the problem mentioned above. A java application will be
developed for this purpose. The application will have some questions and depending upon one of
the solutions mentioned below. Using the application a user can be able to create an account and
answer the survey. The result will be evaluated automatically by our application.
Possible Solutions:
One possible solution is the MBTI 100 questions personality test. Now MBTI actually has four
scales:
1. extroversion or introversion
2. sensing or intuiting
3. thinking or feeling
4. judging or perceiving.
Extraversion:
Being an extravert does not mean a person does not need his/her alone time. It simply
means that they get energy or recharge their battery with social activities.
2. Introversion:
Interacting with other people is totally fine for the introvert however it does not recharge
their battery or give energy to them. Though some alone time does.
Sensing:
These people are extremely detail oriented and organized. Moreover they live in present.
They see things as they are, they are concrete thinkers.
Intuiting:
These people like to think conceptual and precise. They are abstract thinkers.
Feeling:
These people make decisions based on values and what feels right to them.
Thinking:
Thinkers decide based primarily on logic, and when they do so, they consider a decision
to be made.
MBTI combines these scales. In one combination actually 4 traits of the scale can exist. Total
combinations are 16. A person can fall under one or more than one of the combination. For each
combination two or three career are suggested. For example if a person is INTJ then he should be
a programmer and if ISTJ then he should be a creative designer.
On the other hand the solution used by some foreign countries like U.S.A and England is a career
test but instead of the personality it is based on the questions from the different domain like
“Which approach takes more space OO or procedural?”.
Evaluation Criteria:
The project solutions are evaluated and compared using the following criteria:
1. Viability:
Both of the solutions are viable since they have been tested but not in a computerized
environment.
2. Resources:
Same resources are used in both the project the only difference could be of the domain
experts. In MBTI type indicator additional hiring of a domain expert (Psychologist) will
be required to make the 100 questions and in the subject based questions the subject
teachers helped will be required to design the survey.
3. Time Analysis:
3. Both projects almost take the same time to complete though while filling the user can
take more time of the Subject based questions one.
4. Cost Analysis:
In MBTI type indicator additional cost of hiring a domain expert (Psychologist) will be
hired to make the 100 questions. If some voluntary teachers are not found than the cost of
hiring will be applied on the subject based questions solution too since subject specialist
are required to design the career test.
5. Skills required:
Both project required the same level of the skills.
Most Feasible Solution:
The best solution will be the one which is the economically and technically feasible. Since both
projects are almost same in resource estimation, cost estimation and time estimation. Moreover
both are viable. As a deciding factor let’s do analysis of the solution accuracy. The second
solution the Subject based or domain wise questions one has a loop hole in it. What if a person is
interested in computer programming but has no knowledge of the questions related to the
subject. For example if it is asked “What is alpha channel?”. Then as a result the suggestion of
career could go wrong causing a threat to the organization which uses it and the organization
which developed it. However the first solution is better since it does calculation according to the
personality. A computer can only calculate on the base of your inputs. It does not know which
input is correct or incorrect so as long as the user sincerely enter the MBTI wont fail.
Conclusion:
This project’s purpose is to develop a sophisticated and original design of the java software that
will efficiently select the best career for students, based on the traits they possess, The most
feasible solution for the project has been chosen and approved and now is ready for further
elaboration.
