2. Intrinsic Muscle
A group of muscles located within or situated
deeper in a structure
1. Thenermuscle
2. Hypothenar muscle
3. Interosari muscle
3. HYPOTHENER MUSCLE
The hypothenar eminence is made up of four muscles, but there are
only three primary muscles.
1. Abductor digiti minimi muscle,
2. Flexor digiti minimi brevis muscle,
3. opponens digiti minimi muscle,
4. palmaris brevis muscle
4. ABDUCTOR DIGITI MINIMI
• ORIGIN: • Pisiform bone
• INSERTION: • Base of proximal
phalanx of little finger
• NERVE SUPPLY: Deep branch of
ulnar nerve
• ACTION: • Abduction of little finger.
5. FLEXOR DIGITI MINIMI
• ORIGIN: • Hamate bone • Flexor
retinaculum
• INSERTION: Base of proximal
phalanx of little finger
• NERVE SUPPLY: • Deep branch of
ulnar nerve
• ACTION: Flexion of little finger
6. OPPONENS DIGITI MINIMI
• ORIGIN: • Hamate • Flexor
retinaculum
• INSERTION: • Shaft of 5th
metacarpal bone
• NERVE SUPPLY: • Deep branch of
ulnar nerve
• ACTION: • Flexor of 5th metacarpal
and rotate it. (as making the palm
hollow)
7. PALMARIS BREVIS
This muscle is superficial and lies under the skin
• ORIGIN: Flexor retinaculum • Palmar
aponeurosis
• INSERTION: Skin along medial border of hand
• NERVE SUPPLY: Ulnar nerve
• ACTION: Helps in gripping by wrinkling the
skin.
