ABO UT DRF’S
PRO GR AM
Till date DRF’s PwD program has trained over
8000 youth DRF’s PwD program is spread
across 24 cities, in 13 states and aims to reach
5000 youth every year.
The program primarily caters to youth with
physical disability and hearing impaired.
In 2010, DRF initiated the PwD program and the
program addressed the needs of disabled youth
in the age group of 18-35 who are marginalised
and disadvantaged.
DRF works with 500 + employers for placements
Our students are placed in Retail, IT, BPO and
Hospitality industries
The program is designed for 60 days with
customised curriculum with inputs from indus-
try experts to cater the speciall needs of PWDs.
We establish linkages with industry and sensiti-
ze the prospective employers.
Competent sign language interpreter are recrui-
ted at all training centres to address the needs
of the hearing impaired youth.
DRF is working with like minded organisation
like VRC and other NGO’s to widen the reach.
Hand holding support is provided to employed
candidates to address work place challenges.
The package is tailor-made for the organisation
after several consultations and understanding the
needs of the employer to cover the different
stages of PWD employment.
DRF offers customised packages for corporates
and companies, to hand hold employers who are
keen to recruit PwD persons from our talented
pool of students.

a difference in the life of
PwDs by contributing to one
or more component of the
program.

PARTNERSHIP
MODEL
Some unique points about our Partnership Model
FACTS
Overprotective parents - Lack of encourage-
ment from family and society (Social stigma)
Several misconceptions and biases towards
disabled - Inferring that all PwD lack basic
ability or skill to contribute as workforce
Limited opportunities for employment and
growth -Opportunities are mainly available in
few industries
Infrastructural challenges at workplace -
Only 20% of government buildings are “disa-
bled friendly”
Lack of access to skills and technology -
Young persons with disabilities often lack
opportunities to develop their skills, particularly
in the field of information technology.
Poor policy implementation - Despite the
mandate of 3% and incentives for employing at
least 5% PwD in their workforce, only 0.1 % are
currently working in Government
