2. Why did he create it?
• Maslow’s idea was that people become motivated to
achieve certain needs. When one of those needs are
fulfilled, people seek to find the next one and so on.
• He wanted to get a better understanding of what
motivates people and believed people possess a
motivation system unrelated to rewards and also
unconscious desires.

1: Physiological
 Air – one of the obvious basic needs
is air. All humans need this no matter
what.
• Food & Drink- this is also a basic
need, no matter what the instinct for
these things will kick in.
• Shelter & Warmth- as a human you
with also get the instinct to find
shelter and warmth in bad weathers.
• Sex- people have sex it is a natural
thing as it in our genes to reproduce.
• Sleep- humans need to sleep. Energy
is used and restored by sleep, you
cant help to fall asleep as it restores
you.
2: Safety
• Protection from elements- this focuses
around the weather, to protect yourself
from the atmosphere.
• Security- to feel safe in the environment
and secure in who and where you are in
life.
• Order & law – to follow rules made by
someone else, and that you cannot
really just go around doing whatever
you want to do.
• Stability- to be firm and content in the
position you’re in and being able to
provide for yourself .
• Freedom from fear- to be able to live in
an environment when you don’t have to
worry about being killed or running out
of resources. Knowing that you are safe.

4. Friendship-tohavefriendsandnotbealoneintheworld.Tohavesomeonewhoweenjoybeingcompanied
withandtalkto.
Intimacy-tofeelintimatewithsomeoneandconnectwiththeminamorethanfriendshipway.
Affection&love–tofeellovedbyanotherandtobecomeclosetosomeonesexually.
Thesefactorsincludeworkgroup,family,friendsandromanticrelationshipsasyoucancreateddifferent
feelingswithallofthesekindsofpeoplebutallindifferentways.Sometimesinthesamecategory.Onceyou
feelthatyouhavesomeoneelseyoucantalktoandlove,yourexistencebecomesdifferent.
4: esteem needs
• Achievement- to be able to achieve certain things and
be proud and rewarded of something you have done,
from a exam to a goal you have set.
• mastery- when you know everything there is to know
about something you are interested in. like a hobby.
• Independence- to be independent and able to do tasks
alone and not be afraid to do so.
• Status & dominance- to be of power, to have a status is
to be knows for something and to have power over
something or someone and a feel of some kind of
importance.
• Prestige- importance. Respect and admiration up to
someone due to certain things that they have achieved.
• self-respect- to have morals and respect yourself. To
know not to walk around naked and have sex with
people you don’t know. You have an understanding and
respect your body.
• respect from others- to receive respect from other
people. They do not talk to you in a mean way and love
what you do.
5:self- actualization needs-
• realizing personal potential- to realize
what your true purpose is in life and to
understand what you are truly capable
of.
• self-fulfilment- to do something in life
and to be happy about what you have
achieved with it. You are fulfilled with
what you have done.
• seeking personal growth- doing certain
things to make yourself grow and trying
to find what makes you happy to be able
to make you grow and thrive.
• peak experiences.- to experience
certain things that couldn’t possibly get
better. They benefit you and make you
into a better person.
