2. Why did he create it?
• Maslow’s idea was that people become motivated to
achieve certain needs. When one of those needs are
fulfilled, people seek to find the next one and so on.
• He wanted to get a better understanding of what
motivates people and believed people possess a
motivation system unrelated to rewards and also
unconscious desires.

1: Physiological
Air – one of the obvious basic needs
is air. All humans need this no matter
what.
• Food & Drink- this is also a basic
need, no matter what the instinct for
these things will kick in.
• Shelter & Warmth- as a human you
with also get the instinct to find
shelter and warmth in bad weathers.
• Sex- people have sex it is a natural
thing as it in our genes to reproduce.
• Sleep- humans need to sleep. Energy
is used and restored by sleep, you
cant help to fall asleep as it restores
you.
2: Safety
• Protection from elements- this focuses
around the weather, to protect yourself
from the atmosphere.
• Security- to feel safe in the environment
and secure in who and where you are in
life.
• Order & law – to follow rules made by
someone else, and that you cannot
really just go around doing whatever
you want to do.
• Stability- to be firm and content in the
position you’re in and being able to
provide for yourself .
• Freedom from fear- to be able to live in
an environment when you don’t have to
worry about being killed or running out
of resources. Knowing that you are safe.
