Solar Hybrid Generator
Solar system tailored to meet any minimum system size for
local jurisdictional requirements
Basic System Components
Each JouleBox® system includes
The JouleBox® Solar Hybrid Generator by ECO-GEN Energy
uses patent pending technologies and proven components by
using the power of the sun, and wind and the magnetic power of
the earth to provide clean, emission free, electricity 24/7/365.
Each generator provides 60kW (525,600 kWh/yr) of rated reliable
electricity which can also be configured to create large scaled
substations of distributed power.
Standard Features
• Solar panels are included with the JouleBox® Hybrid Generation
System to start the JouleBox® with a fully charged battery brick
• Each generator :
ο Includes sound cancelling technology to provide +/- 45 dB of
quiet running measured from 12 feet from the unit casing
ο Components are NEMA 1 enclosures so each generator will
need to be installed in a building to protect the unit from the
harsh environments. Depending on location a climate
controlled location may be required
ο Is a self contained 60kW unit and can be combined with others
to produce megawatts of distributed power either grid tied or in
“island mode” to create micro grids
ο Incorporates a lithium ion battery brick with proprietary serial
and parallel wiring to constantly charge and discharge thus
maintaining charge levels and extending battery life to an
estimated 20.9 years (included in full 10 year warranty)
ο Uses three highly efficient proprietary “pulsed magnetic 6/4
switched reluctance brushless DC motors” (Star Motors),
manufactured by Baldor, that redirects the back Electro-
Motive Force (EMF) using N50 neodymium permanent
magnets and electromagnets which require <200 watts per
horse power to operate
ο “Star Motors” turn at 1800 RPM for 60Hz and by using the
natural forces of the magnets and the redirected back EMF
there is little friction and little heat generated, thus, saving
motor life
ο Includes one 60kW AC generator and one 30kW DC
generator both made by Marathon Electric Generators
ο Planned down time limited to an hour once a year for gear box
oil change and annual maintenance.
ο Includes a 10 year manufacturer’s warranty with an annual
monitoring contract, which can be extended

What is the technology?
Once the internal battery brick is fully charged from the solar panels after arriving on site, the JouleBox® generates a minimum
of 60kW per hour, 24 hours per day, 365 days a year by turning a standard Marathon Electric 60kW AC generator and a 30 kW
DC generator with a new technology of proprietary DC motors, called “Star Motors”. This name is based on the configuration of
the frame to house the specially placed electromagnets. This non-fossil fueled invention is possible because of the completely
new switch reluctance electric motor design and new technology silicon switches which uses several techniques to increase
mechanical advantage without requiring more power to do so. The main energy force is these motors use a combination of
ultra strong permanent N50 neodymium magnets with integrated electromagnets to redirect the back Electro Motive Force
(EMF) so the motors generate more torque with 73% less watts per horsepower.
A 30kW Lithium Ion battery brick powers the three unique 40 HP DC motors within the Joulebox®. The battery brick is wired in
serial and parallel, so that it can continuously charge and discharge. This allows the battery to operate at 100% charge and not
use up the 15,000 charge/ discharge life cycle. Therefore, the useful life of the battery brick is over 20 years. The JouleBox® is
designed to be started with the battery brick charged to full capacity. The battery can be charged to full capacity using a typical
battery charging unit with electricity from the grid, or it can be fully charged in the field for a non-grid tied system using the solar
panels. The unit is shipped with the battery brick partially charged to full capacity at the factory, and then “topped off” during
installation using the solar panels. The solar panels are for internal battery maintenance and do not affect the final continuous
power output of the JouleBox®.
Due to the extremely high efficiency rating of the DC Star Motors, there is more than enough power to turn the three motors
with a 30kW battery brick because each of the motors uses only 200 watts per HP (i.e. 3 - 40 HP motors X 200 watts per HP =
24kW). Two Star Motors, each using 8kW, turn a single 60kW Electric AC generator. The third motor, also using 8kW, turns a
30kW DC generator which, along with the solar system, continuously recharges the 30 kW Lithium Ion battery brick.
Additionally, the single Star Motor that turns the 30kW DC generator also turns a blower fan manufacturing wind to assist the
other two Star Motors by turning a patent pending wind turbine which then turns the 60kW AC Generator for the output power
from the JouleBox®. All power is regulated and controlled by the proprietary PowerQ® control module to regulate voltage
frequency, phase synchronization and harmonics, power factor, and KVAR improvements prior to local use or grid feed. The
system stays in balance with 120 HP (3 40hp motors) of mechanical energy IN equaling the 90kW electric energy OUT
(1HP=.746kW).

Once the internal battery brick is fully charged from the solar panels after arriving on site, the JouleBox® generates a minimum of 60kW per hour, 24 hours per day, 365 days a year by turning a standard Marathon Electric 60kW AC generator and a 30 kW DC generator with a new technology of proprietary DC motors, called “Star Motors”. This name is based on the configuration of the frame to house the specially placed electromagnets. This non-fossil fueled invention is possible because of the completely new switch reluctance electric motor design and new technology silicon switches which uses several techniques to increase mechanical advantage without requiring more power to do so. The main energy force is these motors use a combination of ultra strong permanent N50 neodymium magnets with integrated electromagnets to redirect the back Electro Motive Force (EMF) so the motors generate more torque with 73% less watts per horsepower. A 30kW Lithium Ion battery brick powers the three unique 40 HP DC motors within the Joulebox®. The battery brick is wired in serial and parallel, so that it can continuously charge and discharge. This allows the battery to operate at 100% charge and not use up the 15,000 charge/ discharge life cycle. Therefore, the useful life of the battery brick is over 20 years. The JouleBox® is designed to be started with the battery brick charged to full capacity. The battery can be charged to full capacity using a typical battery charging unit with electricity from the grid, or it can be fully charged in the field for a non-grid tied system using the solar panels. The unit is shipped with the battery brick partially charged to full capacity at the factory, and then “topped off” during installation using the solar panels. The solar panels are for internal battery maintenance and do not affect the final continuous power output of the JouleBox®. Due to the extremely high efficiency rating of the DC Star Motors, there is more than enough power to turn the three motors with a 30kW battery brick because each of the motors uses only 200 watts per HP (i.e. 3 - 40 HP motors X 200 watts per HP = 24kW). Two Star Motors, each using 8kW, turn a single 60kW Electric AC generator. The third motor, also using 8kW, turns a 30kW DC generator which, along with the solar system, continuously recharges the 30 kW Lithium Ion battery brick. Additionally, the single Star Motor that turns the 30kW DC generator also turns a blower fan manufacturing wind to assist the other two Star Motors by turning a patent pending wind turbine which then turns the 60kW AC Generator for the output power from the JouleBox®. All power is regulated and controlled by the proprietary PowerQ® control module to regulate voltage frequency, phase synchronization and harmonics, power factor, and KVAR improvements prior to local use or grid feed. The system stays in balance with 120 HP (3 40hp motors) of mechanical energy IN equaling the 90kW electric energy OUT (1HP=.746kW).
