2. MOTION
• WHEN AN OBJECT CHANGES ITS POSITION
WITH RESPECT TO TIME THE OBJECT IS SAID
TO BE AN MOTION .
3. WHAT IS REST ?
• WHEN THE POSITION OF AN OBJECT WITH
RESPECT TO ITS IMMEDIATE SURROUNDINGS
DOES NOT CHANGE WITH TIME IT SAID TO BE
THE OBJECT IS AT REST .
6. WHAT IS SPEED
• SPEED OF A BODY IS THE DISTANCE TRAVEL
BY IT IN PER UNIT
• SPEED GIVES US AN IDEA OF HOW SLOW OR
FAST .
• FORMULA OF SPEED = TOTAL DISTANCE
TRAVELLED / TOTAL TIME TAKEN
• UNIT OF SPEED IS METER / SECOND
7. SPEED AND DISTANCE IS MEASURED
BY ?
• SPEED IS MEASURE WITH A DEVICE CALLED
SPEEDOMETER .
• DISTANCE IS MEASURED BY A
DEVICE CALLED ODOMETER .
8. WHAT IS DISTANCE ?
• LENGTH OF PATH JOINING TWO POINT IS
KNOWN AS DISTANCE .
• UNIT OF LENGTH = METER / KILOMETER / CM
• SI UNIT OF DISTANCE – METER …..
9. WHAT IS POSITION ?
• DISTANCE AND DIRECTION FORM A STABLE
POINT
• POSITION IS A PLACE WHERE SOMEONE IS
SOMETHING IS LOCATED OR HAS BEEN PUT …
11. RECTILINEAR MOTION
• If a particle is restricted to move along a
straight line, its motion is called rectilinear
(or linear) motion. Such a motion can be
described using one coordinate only.
Displacement of the particle and its
derivatives i.e. velocity and acceleration all
are one-dimensional vectors. Free-fall under
the Earth’s gravitational field, a car moving
along a straight path can be approximated as
rectilinear motions.
12. CIRCULATORY MOTION
• If a particle is restricted to move along a straight
line, its motion is called rectilinear (or linear)
motion. Such a motion can be described using
one coordinate only. Displacement of the
particle and its derivatives i.e. velocity and
acceleration all are one-dimensional vectors.
Free-fall under the Earth’s gravitational field, a
car moving along a straight path can be
approximated as rectilinear motions.
13. PREODIC MOTION
• If an object moves such that it repeats its
path regularly after equal intervals of time,
it's motion is said to be periodic.
14. UNIFORM MOTION
• Uniform motion: When an object moving
along a straight line moves with a constant
speed, then the object is said to be in uniform
motion.
Eg: A car moving in a straight line with a
constant and speed .
15. NON UNIFORM MOTION
• Non-uniform motion: When an object moving
along a straight line changes its speed with
respect to time, then the object is said to be in
uniform motion.
Eg: The motion of a train.
