2. Introduction
• Tumor tissues and healthy tissues have different thermal sensitivities
• Therapeutic temperature range 42- 45 degree C
• Microwave freq range commercially used in sophisticated health
centres is 430MHz 915MHz 2.45GHz
• Electrical scalpels, which are generally used these days, is having
range between 100KHz to MHz have ability to realize tissue
coagulation and dissection
3. Introduction
• Those Electrical scalpels required external electrode, which resulted
in burning of the surrounding healthy tissues of the tumor
• Also the RF enabled in this exercise may lead to accident involuntary
muscle movement
• This burning of tissue leads to carbonisation in Laparoscopic surgery
• To remove this ill effects of the operation, new device is introduced as
below
4. Forceps-Type
• Forceps type, Scissor type, Knife types etc is a new series of
microwave energy based tool to overcome the problems
• Forceps type has a moveable 8.5 mm dissection part
• No excess and untargeted burning of healthy tissues
• The antenna element is covered with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE)
for preventing the tissue adhesion.
5. Process
Forceps type: Antenna is efficient and precise by shape and
size, with operating frequency of 2.45 GHz.
This is one of the industrial, scientific and medical (ISM)
frequencies
6. Process
This is parameterized reflection coefficient of the model.
So we conclude that impedance matching of the device is
not a problem at the set operating frequency.
7. Process
The process indicates the tissue coagulated region above by the calculation.
Thus the scale explains procedure drawn with red and blue highlights.
8. Process
The results obtained by using the proposed prototype were tested on
animal kidney (swine kidney experiment)is during an animal experiment.
The hemostasis ability can be observed. Tissue burned and cured with
precision.
