2. Introduction
Sustainable income is obtained from ordinary activities which are of
recurring nature. Rural women can obtain such income by developing
a Navgrah Vaitka at their own house.
Navgrah vatika means garden of nine planets represented by the
bushes, grasses and trees. The nine plants and trees represent the nine
planets and have special position.
The twigs of these nine planetary plants are used in yagnas. Some of
them also have medicinal value. According to Indian astrology the
navgrah vatika developed near the house brings health, wealth and
happiness to the family.
3. Importance of Navgrah Vatika
Navgrah vatika is very
important source of energy.
As these plants represents
different planets i.e. represent
different celestial forces so
this vatika is used to get the
power of navgrah.
According to Indian astrology
the nine planets have effect on
the life on earth.
Out of nine there are six
planet and two notes.
It adds aesthetic beauty to the
surrounding.

4. Benefits of Navgrah Vatika
Navgrah Vatika is used to get the power of navgrah.
It protect the vastu from the malefic effect of 9 planets.
It gives the person health and wealth.
It protects from various diseases.
If planted heartly in auspicious time and in well directions then it attracts
the power of divine energies.
Removes vastu dosha.
Its creates interest a raising plants for earning income.
It’s a source of income.

7. Objective
Keeping the above facts in mind, demonstration unit
of Navgrah Vatika was developed at Narendra Dev
University of Agriculture & Technology, Kumarganj,
Ayodhya in Kisan Mela.
The objective of the study was to create awareness
and knowledge enhancement among rural women for
rising of navgrah vatika for income generation.
9. Methodology
Total 130 rural women selected for the study.
Data were collected by interview schedule method.
The respondents were classified in terms of having low, medium and
high knowledge level on the basis of cumulative square root frequency
method.
Apart from this knowledge index was measured. Experimental
research design before- after have been employed to test the
effectiveness of demonstration which was assessed through knowledge
gain and pre-post score of participants on navgrah vatika.

12. Conclusion
• It was found that Navgrah Vatika is very important aspect of
profitable agriculture and sustainable development for income.
• There is need to create the awareness about navgrah vatika in
large scale so that rural women and unemployed youth can
develop small scale enterprises to generate income.
• There was found significant difference between pre and post
knowledge score of respondents. Therefore it could be concluded
that the demonstration on Navgrah vatika at NDUA&T
Kumarganj was found effective in disseminating the
information.
