2. First, I started by adding the masthead “CONTENTS” this was done by adding a text box
using the tool that looks like a rectangle with an A in it. This masthead was added so
that the audience/reader recognises which page they are looking at. Next I added the
issue number (1) and the date (Dec12). Also, add next the masthead is the name of the
magazine/the magazine masthead from the front cover; this is done so that the title is
anchored to the magazine and so that the font will be associated with this magazine
and easily recognised.
The tool that
was used to
add text.
3. Then to the bottom of the page, I added the page number, the date and the title of
the magazine again. This was done by using a simple text box again, and adding it to
the bottom right of the page to look like a real music magazine, and to anchor the title
with the magazine. The colour of the page number was changed from black to red, by
using the colour changing bar on the right side of the quark page.
Used to
change the
colour of font.
Used to
add text.
4. Then, I added my regular and feature
cover lines and sub lines to my contents
page. This was done by using a simple
text box and the colours where changed
by using the colour tools to the right side
of the Quark page . This done was done
so that the readers/audience know where
to find each page and whether its in the
magazine monthly (regular) or if its
exclusive (feature).
On the headings “features” and
“regulars” I have added a box around the
text, and a frame around the writing by
using the two following tools on the
screen shots below;
5. Next, I had to add 4 main images to my
contents page that linked to cover lines
within the magazine and one that relates to
the cover story. These images where taken
by myself and simply just inserted by using
the image tool which is shown below ( A
rectangle with a cross inside). If the images
where too small or too large, I had to open
them on Photoshop and re-size the image
and then re enter it into my contents page
again. The images have direct address to
attract the target audience. Also, both of
the model’s clothing compliment the colour
scheme of my music magazine.
Used to add images to
my contents page.
6. To finalise, I added page numbers over the
bottom left or right of my images so that
the reader/audience, knew what page they
would find the story that this certain image
is anchored to!. This was done by using a
simple text box, and then the colour was
changed using the tool at the right side of
the Quark page.
7. Finally, I have added the subscription information to the bottom right of my music magazine.
This was done by using a text box and then linking them together with the linking tool so that
the text flows into the next box if there is not enough space. The text colour was then changed
by using the colour tool. Then to the right of the text is a smaller image of my magazine, this was
done by adding an image box and then inserting the image like the images above it.
This is the button that I used to link the
two text boxes together so that the text
would flow from one box into the next.
8. This is the final design of my contents
page for my music magazine...
