What is GAMSO?
 Generic Activity Model for Statistical
Organisations
 It aims to cover all activities of
statistical organisations
Who created GAMSO?
 The business activity model developed by the
“Statistical Network” provided a starting point
 Further developed under UNECE
• GAMSO Version 1.0, December 2015
• Version 1.1, November 2016
• Endorsed by CES, June 2017
• New version end of 2018 (only minor changes!)
Why?
 To extend and complement the GSBPM
by covering all typical activities of a
statistical organisation
 To improve communication within and
between statistical organisations by
introducing a common schema and
standard terminology

Example
 Seasonal adjustment requires:
• People, methods, processes, technology,
standards and information (i.e. data!)
• In the context of the organisational setting
(legislation, policy, etc.)
 If we only address one of these dimensions,
e.g. training people, or providing software,
the organisation will not have the capability
to do seasonal adjustment!

  • 2. What is GAMSO?  Generic Activity Model for Statistical Organisations  It aims to cover all activities of statistical organisations
  • 3. Who created GAMSO?  The business activity model developed by the “Statistical Network” provided a starting point  Further developed under UNECE • GAMSO Version 1.0, December 2015 • Version 1.1, November 2016 • Endorsed by CES, June 2017 • New version end of 2018 (only minor changes!)
  • 4. Why?  To extend and complement the GSBPM by covering all typical activities of a statistical organisation  To improve communication within and between statistical organisations by introducing a common schema and standard terminology

Example  Seasonal adjustment requires: • People, methods, processes, technology, standards and information (i.e. data!) • In the context of the organisational setting (legislation, policy, etc.)  If we only address one of these dimensions, e.g. training people, or providing software, the organisation will not have the capability to do seasonal adjustment!
