statistical organisations
3. Who created GAMSO?
The business activity model developed by the
“Statistical Network” provided a starting point
Further developed under UNECE
• GAMSO Version 1.0, December 2015
• Version 1.1, November 2016
• Endorsed by CES, June 2017
• New version end of 2018 (only minor changes!)
4. Why?
To extend and complement the GSBPM
by covering all typical activities of a
statistical organisation
To improve communication within and
between statistical organisations by
introducing a common schema and
standard terminology

Seasonal adjustment requires:
• People, methods, processes, technology,
standards and information (i.e. data!)
• In the context of the organisational setting
(legislation, policy, etc.)
If we only address one of these dimensions,
e.g. training people, or providing software,
the organisation will not have the capability
to do seasonal adjustment!
