1. WHAT ARE FRACTAL ROBOTS?
Fractal Robot is a science that promises to
revolutionize technology in a way that has
never been witnessed before.
The Fractal robots are a set of uniform
electronic cubes which are functioned by an
OS (operating system). These robots are
inbuilt with hardware as well as software. The
movement of these robots can be controlled
by an embedded chip which is placed in the
cube. The expected size of these cubes
ranges from 1000 to 10000 atoms wide.
2. CONSTRUCTION DETAILS OF FRACTAL
ROBOTS
The construction of fractal robot is not easy, because one
should take a lot of efforts in making these robots. The
robot design includes the smallest amount of moving parts
so that they can be mass generated. Considerable effort
has been spent in making the robotic cube as simple as
possible after the invention had been conceived. The
design is such that it has the fewest possible moving parts
so that they can be mass produced. Materials
requirements have been made as flexible as possible so
that they can be built from metals and plastics which are
cheaply available in industrial nations but also from
ceramics and clays which are environmentally friendlier
and more readily available in developing nations.
3. The cube therefore is hollowand the plateshave all the mechanisms. Each of these face
plateshave electrical contact padsthat allow power and data signalsto be routed from
one robotic cube to another. They also have 45 degree petalsthat push out of the surface
to engage the neighbouringface that allowsone robotic cube to lock to its neighbours.
The contact padsare arranged symmetricallyaround four edges to allow for rotational
symmetry .

4. FRACTAL ROBOT MOVEMENT MECHANISM
To monitorthe inner system, the representationof the platesis the most essential
thing. The motor assists the platesto drive in the slots as well as outer the slots. The
motor can be used to run the petalswith the help of a metal strip. The wedges are
pushed in and out of the slots with the aid of a motor. Each wedge could be directly
driven by single motor or they could be driven as a pair with the aid of a flexible
strip of metal. The wedges having serrated edges engage the neighbouring robotic
cube sitting on a ledge such that a separationdistance is alwaysmaintained
between the robotic cubes as shown in figure . The separationdistance allowsthe
robotic cubes to slide with minimalfriction.
5. APPLICATION OF FRACTAL ROBOTS
The main applications of fractal
robots include the following:
• Fire Fighting
• Earthquake Application
• Bridge Construction
• Defence Technology
• Space Applications
• Medical Applications
6. Limitations of Fractal Robot
• The limitations of fractal robot include the
following.
• Nowadays, the fractal robot is very costly.
• The development of the applied science is still in
the first stage
• The Fractal Robot needs precise software to run.
