3. CLOUDS
One of the forms of condensation.
Formed by the condensation of water vapour around the dust
particles in the atmosphere.
4. TYPES OF CLOUDS
Clouds can be classified according to their form and height.
Based on form there are mainly 4types of clouds
1. Cirrus clouds.
2. Stratus clouds.
3. Cumulus clouds.
4. Nimbus clouds.
5. TYPES OF CLOUDS
Based on altitude.
1. High clouds (20000 to 40000 ft.)
2. Medium clouds (7000 to 20000 ft.)
3. Low clouds (<7000ft.)
4. Clouds with great vertical extent (2000 to 30000ft).
6. CIRRUS CLOUDS
These are feather – like clouds in the upper atmosphere in clear weather
conditions.
STRATUS CLOUDS
These appear in the layers in the lower part of the sky.
7. CUMULUS CLOUDS
These clouds resemble huge cotton bundles and are formed due to
strong convection currents.
They have large vertical currents.
8. NIMBUS CLOUDS
Dark rain clouds in the lower atmosphere.
These clouds appear dark.
It does not allow sunlight to pass through due to thick concentration
of water droplets.
