Geometry in clouds
1.
2. WHAT ARE CLOUDS?
Clouds are visible masses of water droplets or ice
crystals in the sky. There are several varieties of cloud
types that differentiate based on altitude and
consistency.
The three main types being stratus, cirrus, and
cumulus.
Clouds come in many different shapes, and in these
shapes and through the consistency, we can find
geometry in clouds.
3. Stratus
A thick and evenly distributed blanket of clouds that
covers the entire sky. When you look up in the sky at
ideal stratus clouds, all you will see is an entire plane
of gray. This relates to geometry in the sense that when
we look at these clouds, it appears as one flat plane
when in reality it’s only from where we stand and how
we perceive the clouds.
4. Cirrus
Thin, wispy clouds found at high altitudes. If the wisps
appear straight, it means there is little wind action, but
if they have a curvy appearance, it means there is
higher wind turbulence. These are the clouds typically
composed of ice crystals, which has a hexagonal
structure like the ice crystal.
5. Cumulus
This cloud builds up on top of itself and has a puffy
appearance. When these clouds get too heavy with
water droplets, the droplets start to combine and fall.
When they fall they take the shape of a tear drop.
