South Atlanta and Bartow, Carroll,
Clayton, Spalding, and Hall counties
have the highest percentages of
population with less than a high
school diploma or GED, while north
Fulton, Fayette, Cobb, Dekalb and
Forsyth have some of the lowest.
3. The Percentage of Population with Less
Than High School or GED is Declining in
All Metro Counties…
Still, in some counties more than 20 percent of the population over age 25 has less than a high school
education or GED. Fayette County has the lowest proportion of population in this category.

Educational attainment is highest in
north Fulton and Cobb counties, as
well as in parts of Forsyth,
Cherokee, Gwinnett, and Dekalb.
6. The Percentage of Population with a
Bachelor’s Degree or Higher is Growing
in Almost All Metro Counties…
Fulton, Forsyth, Cobb, Fayette, and Dekalb counties have the highest percentages of population with a
Bachelor’s degree or higher. Fulton County leads the metro with 49 percent of the population 25 and over
holding a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Only Bartow and Carroll counties have experienced decreases in the
percentage of their populations with a Bachelor’s degree or higher.
