This document describes the "Connect, Extend, Challenge" thinking routine. The routine helps students make connections between new ideas and prior knowledge, reflect on what they are learning, and identify ongoing questions. Students will work in groups and use colored paper (blue, purple, green) to write their thoughts on connecting, extending, or challenging ideas, which they will then post on a classroom mural. The teacher will use this routine at the end of class sessions to encourage students to reflect on and share their understanding.
