THE NEWS PROJECT ( 4 ESO A)
PARTS:
1. TUNE + LOGO + NAME OF THE PROGRAMME ( all)
2. BREAKING NEWS (local or international) ( Student 1)
3. INTERNATIONAL POLITICS ( Student 2)
4. LOCAL NEWS (some ideas: identity theft; robbery or murder) ( Student 3)
5. SPORTS ( Student 4)
6. COMMERCIAL (advertisment) ( all)
7. THE WEATHER ( Student 5)
8. CULTURE NEWS SECTION ( Student 6)
Groups of 5 can skip one of the above sections.
Each of the sections must have 3 parts:
1. Main TV presenter (responsible for the section)
2. Reporter
3. Witness or witnesses

PLANNING:
Week 1: 15 to 19 of May (Think about the News and start writing them). The responsible of each section must be
the presenter of the section. At least 2 more students have to be in the section as a reporter and a witness.
Week 2: 22 to 26 of May (Finish writing all the parts, decide who is doing what in each section and rehearse).
Week 3: 29 to 2 of June (start recording, preparing the set and the tune)
Week 4: 5 to 9 of June (Record and edit)
Week 5: 12 to 14 finish all (14 must be finished)

Group Recording schedule ( each group has 25 minutes to record on their own in a classroom):
Fridays: English class: May 26 group 1 + 2 / June 2 groups 3 + 4 / June 9 groups 1+2 / Buscar 1 día y lugar para los
grups 3+4.
Tuesdays: Nick’s class ( next to the library): May 23 group 3 +4 / May 30 groups 1 +2 / May 6 groups 3+4 / May 13
groups 1+2.

SETTING: prepare the studio with a logo and the name of the programme.
Each section must have: a presenter, a reporter and a witness.
TV PRESENTER (Change it in each section)
Witnesses and real life connections with a reporter. (some students have to act as “witnesses” and some have to act
as” reporters”).

Include the following in all the sections:
Passive sentences (Unit 5)
Modal verbs (Unit 6): pg 64
Reported Speech and Direct speech (unit 8): pg 76
Relative pronouns (Unit 9): pg 86
Phrasal verbs ( unit 4) pg 42
Good pronunciation and good diction.
