Content: Defining an Adverb
An adverb is an articleofspeechthat modifies other adverbs, verbs, adjectives,clauses, orsentences.
When an adverb is used ina sentence itwill answeroneofthe following questions:
How? When? Where? Why? In what way? How often? How much? In what condition? /To what degree?
Although you can recognize someadverbs by their “ly”ending, thereare many adverbs that do not requirean“ly” ending. For example,

Adverb Categories
It’s helpful toconsider categories ofadverbs to get a better understanding ofthem. For example:-
Adverbs of timeanswerthequestion ofwhen,and includesuchadverbs as:- early, never, andtomorrow tonamea few.
Adverbs of location answer thequestionof:-where andincludesuch adverbs as:- upstairs, outside, up, and aboveto namea few.
Adverbs of manner answer the question ofhow,and includesuchadverbs as:-happilyangrily, andfast for example.
Adverbs of frequency answer thequestionofhow often andincludesuch adverbs as:-rarely, always, sometimes, andoccasionally
Adverbs of degree answer the question ofhow much, and include such adverbs as:- completely, almost,little,very, and too for examples.
