2. Woman In Black
The opening scene I will be analyzing is Woman In
Black
3. Establishing shots
In the Woman In Black opening scene we saw a variety of camera shots.
We see a Medium close up of the children to help show the expressions
of their face. The smiles help create a happy mood which does not last for
long.
We then see a close up of the dolls face to add a scary effect to the scene
and make the audience feel on edge.
4. Mise-En-Scene
Mise En Scene includes props, space, lighting and costume. These are all
used to help emphasize scenes and get a message over to the audience
quicker.
In Woman in Black we see Dolls used are props. These were used to
show that the children are young and vulnerable. However, the dolls are
scary looking so it helps set the scene of a horror film.
In this opening scene there is also low key lighting. This was used to help
emphasize a sense darkness to the scene.
5. Lighting and sound
In this opening scene there is non diegetic music used.
The music is slow and scary, it is also full of tension to
make the audience feel on edge.
This music is accompanied by low key lighting to also
emphasize the gloomy feeling that is created from the
music.
