MORTENSON
Greg Mortenson born December 27, 1957 is an American
professional speaker, writer, and former mountaineer.
He is a co-founder and former executive director of the
non-profit Central Asia Institute and the co-author of The
New York Times Bestseller, Three Cups of Tea

In 1996, Mortenson returned to korphe to build the promised
school. He built more than 170 schools in Pakistan and
Afghanistan.
He came to understand how important education was in the
fight against ills such as over population, poverty and
terrorism.
He traveled to northern Pakistan in 1993 to climb the world’s
second-highest mountain, K2.

Mortenson convinced Silicon Valley computer
pioneer Jean Hoerni to fund the building of the
Korphe school. The mission of the non-profit
organization is to promote education and
literacy, especially for girls, in remote mountain
regions of Pakistan and Afghanistan.
The kids from Bozeman got schools for their
education from Greg. The children also received
books from Greg. They also learn different
languages from Greg so that will know how to
communicate.
5. HISTORY AND IMPACT OF THE VENTURE
Greg charity Central Asia Institute gained tens of millions of
dollars due to the book “Three Cups of Tea”. And he donated
them away to Pakistan.
He inspired a reader who was fellow a adventurer and author Jon
Krakauer, who was so moved he donated $75,000 to CAI and
that benefitted the children’s from Pakistan.
Through the inspirational actions of Greg. Mortenson he was
deeply moved by the kindness and generosity of these people
who gave a stranger so much when they had so little.
During recuperation, he learned as much as he could of their
language and customs.
The thing they wanted most was a school for their children. The
national government had never built the school it had promised,
