Task 1

I have been asked to design the advertisement for the company “Fizzy Drinks Inc”. The advert will be
based around a new energy/fizzy drink coming out in the upcoming year. Once completed it will be
uploaded to the internet and then further put onto sites such as YouTube Facebook and other social
networking sites around the web. Doing this will allow the advertisement to get much more viewers
as typically the majority of people who own a computer generally are part of a social networking
site. Putting the advert on YouTube will definitely amplify the amount of viewer’s due to the fact
that the site has become one of the most popular globally. When people are watching videos they
occasionally get adverts at the start before the video begins and this advertisement would be a great
addition as energy and fizzy drinks in general are so popular especially for the younger youth and
specifically teenagers. The funding for this production will come mainly from the company I am
doing the advert for, but a percentage will also come from the national lottery funding base,
combined from these two funds I will have enough to complete everything required by the deadline.

Camera Operator

Camera operators ensure that the cameras as well as the equipment associated for the recording or
shoot that is being held are working and functioning properly. They are also there to make sure
everything is set up correctly. A key element that camera operators must be experienced in is multi-
tasking. They always need to be listening and watching everyone else to supervise and ensure that
everybody is doing their job correctly. They act as leaders in a way because commonly give other
members of the camera team advice on what they are doing in order to make the job much easier.
Camera operators have control over the decision of moving the camera to different locations and
how to frame certain shots. There is usually a team of camera operators controlled by a camera
supervisor or senior camera person who is responsible for overseeing the work of the operators and
the other assistant working on the scene.

Sound

Sound is an extremely important factor in the creative media industry, the sound department as a
whole work together to make sure the sound and the effects are to the best possible quality but
overall, so that it syncs with the visual images. Another job that the sound department have is the
recording of artists and broadcasts on set and on location as they can be recorded for use in a video
or a clip. As digital technology adapts and changes, it brings new job opportunities to the sound
department due to the fact that more has to be done to meet the standards of today’s technology.
There are two main categories in which the sound jobs fall into; these are production sound and
post-production sound. You have to be in a position so that you can use a range of sound equipment
and are able to carry out basic repairs for certain circumstances when something breaks or faults.
The majority of people working in sound work in studios or on the location of where something is
being filmed, as these are the best places to gather the clips for use and also to get everything ready
for production. Working in sound requires knowledge in certain areas of media; these include good
knowledge of audio equipment and sound technology, good communication and are able to work
well in a team.
Hair and Make-up

People who work in this sector of the media are responsible for the people involved looking as good
as possible for the specific role they are playing, the purpose of this is purely to make the character
seem much more realistic. Make-up and hair designers usually work on feature films and high
budget television dramas and they must be proficient in both the techniques required. Make-up and
hair are especially important to the film production, creating a look for the characters in the overall
design of films or television productions such as social class, time periods and any other elements
required to create the desired illusion. The work involved ranges from just creating a certain look for
a character to completely recreating the image of someone to make them feel like someone else
depending on the production involved. Make-up and hair departments use the design and
application of wigs, hairpieces, hair extensions, facial hair, bald caps, tattoos, body paint as well as
medical effects like scars and burns.

Editors

Editors are the people who create the magic behind the clips in film productions. They are in charge
of putting all of the clips together and using effects to contrast different settings in order to make
the film look as neat as possible. Virtually every film requires an editor of some sort and there are
many different types and levels of editing. At the very basic level, an editor will need to dub footage
to different tapes / disks, organise footage for distribution and convert formats. Advanced editing
includes things like colour correction and flaring. The editor is required to perform specific edits as
instructed by a director or producer. They are also allowed to make their own editing decisions,
perhaps using a particular style or adding their own unique touch to it. In order to be a successful
editor, you need to be familiar and experienced with computers and how they work when editing
through editing software. Knowing how computers work and I.T gives you the editor a huge benefit
as they have advanced knowledge on how things work.
