2. DR BHIMRAO AMBEDKAR
• Dr Ambedkar was a social reformer who fought economic
and social discrimination against the Dalits in India's
Hindu society, and who later renounced Hinduism and
inspired the Dalit Buddhist movement.
• Ambedkar served as chairman of the drafting committee of
the Indian Constitution.
• For the defence of Dalit rights, he started many periodicals
like Mook Nayak, Bahishkrit Bharat, and
Equality Janta.
• Dr.Ambedkar's legacy as a socio-political reformer had a
deep effect on modern India.
• Ambedkar advocated national economic and social

3. JYOTI RAO PHULE
• Jyotirao Govindrao Phule was an Indian social activist, thinker, anti-
caste social reformer and writer from Maharashtra.
• His work extended to many fields, including eradication of
untouchability and the caste system and for his efforts in educating
women and oppressed Phule started his first school for girls in 1848
.
• He, along with his followers, formed the Satyashodhak Samaj (Society
of Truth Seekers) to attain equal rights for people from exploited
castes.
• People from all religions and castes could become a part of this
association which worked for the upliftment of the oppressed classes.
4. BABA AMTE
• Murlidhar Devidas Amte, popularly known as Baba Amte,
was an Indian social worker and social activist known
particularly for his work for the rehabilitation and
empowerment of people suffering from leprosy.
• He has received numerous awards and prizes including the
Padma Vibhushan, the Dr. Ambedkar International Award,
the Gandhi Peace Prize, the Ramon Magsaysay Award,
the Templeton Prize and the Jamnalal Bajaj Award. He is
also known as the modern Gandhi of India.
• Amte founded three ashrams for treatment and
rehabilitation of leprosy patients, disabled people and
people from marginalised sections of general society in
Maharashtra.
5. JAVAID RAHI
• Javaid Rahi is an Indian author, a tribal social
reformer, and a researcher of national repute.
• He has done pioneering work in the preservation of
the Culture and Heritage of indigenous communities
of North-western India focusing on tribal Gujjar-
Bakerwal culture.
• He is a prolific writer of Gujarathi, Urdu and Punjabi.
• He is also a Media influencer among Gujjars and
Bakarwals. He enjoys a huge fan following in nomadic
groups for his extraordinary services for tribes. In
tribal areas, he is known particularly as a cultural
