1. Textual Analysis Hannah Nicholls
The rolling stones magazine is a general
magazine which focuses on the popular
culture. The front cover of this magazine is
very basic and casual which can draw the
audience in. The masthead has been
covered by the main character, however, the
audience will know that this is rolling stones
as it is so popular and current. The costume
of the main character is basic and unable to
see as this is a close up shot showing the
face of the main character. The sell lines are
placed down the left of the front cover and
are placed easy for the audience to read.
The facial expression the main character
holds is serious and connecting with the
audience.
The rolling stones contents page is defined
and recognised by the โRSโ on the top of
the contents page. All of the writing is in
certain columns and all placed in an
organised way which can be good for the
audience and can make them want to read
it as they will feel it is easy to understand
and read. The page is very basic and is
not too complicated for anyone. The
picture on the contents page is a medium
close up. The audience will feel they want
to carry on reading as they may want to
know what the female character is looking
at and further in the magazine it may
answer their question. The colour used are
black and red which works for the
audience and is accessible and easy to
read for anyone.
2. This double page spread is
very eye catching as the
typography is bold and a
serif font. The language
used is a very eye catching
and can draw the audience
into reading the magazine.
The main character is not
making eye contact with the
audience therefore people
may want to read the article
and wonder why she is not
making eye contact with the
audience. The main
character looks like she is
very classy and all about femininity which can draw female readers in to read the
article. The use of black and white has connotations of being old and classy, even
though this is the case the magazine is not old therefore the audience feel there is a
contrast with this.
