A MIDDLE-AGED MAN, whose hair had begun to turn gray, courted two women at the same
time. One of them was young, and the other well advanced in years. The elder woman, ashamed
to be courted by a man younger than herself, made a point, whenever her admirer visited her, to
pull out some portion of his black hairs. The younger, on the contrary, not wishing to become the
wife of an old man, was equally zealous in removing every gray hair she could find. Thus it
came to pass that between them both he very soon found that he had not a hair left on his head.

    However he was so nervous when a lovely young woman opened the door. He only asked for a glass of
    water. The woman thought that the boy was hungry so she gave him a large glass of milk. He drank it
    slowly, and then asked. “How much do I owe you?”
    “You don’t owe anything,” she replied, “Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness.” He
    said, “Then I thank you from my heart.” As the poor boy left that house, he felt stronger. His faith in
    God was getting stronger too. He had been ready to stop his study but now he got a spirit to continue it
    until he became a doctor.
             Some years later that young woman became critically ill. She was sent to the big city to cure her
    disease. The poor boy was the doctor. When he knew the name of the town she came from. He went to
    meet her. He recognized her at once. He tried hard to save the woman’s life. From then on he gave
    special attention to the sick woman. After a long struggle, the woman could be cured. The poor boy
    paid all the bill. He wrote “Paid in full with one glass of milk” under the bill. When the woman opened
    the bill, tears of the joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed, “Thank you, God, that your love
    has spread abroad through human hearts and hands.

kitchen, where the farmer sat at the table. The donkey rushed up to him and began wagging its tail
vigorously and knocked off all the things on the table. It then started jumping around and frolicking like a
little dog and finally, plunked itself down on the farmer’s lap. The shocked farmer yelled for help. The
farmhands came running in and dragged the donkey off to its stable and gave it a beating it would never
forget for the rest of its life.

            Once upon a time, there was a small village in Baghdad, with a small population. In this village,
    everybody knew each other and about every problem in the village. There was a bakery that was popular for
    its delicious bread.
            One day, a poor old man was walking along the street. When he passed, the bakery, he stopped to
    smell the scent of the bread being emitted.
            Suddenly, the baker caught the old man and shouted at him, demanding the price of the bread’s
    scent. He almost dragged him to the police.
            A very famous wise man named Junha heard the baker shouting. So, he approached him and asked
    about the problem. Junha stood calmly listening to the baker, as he thought about a solution.
            After a few minutes, Junha’s eyes glistened and amused smile was on his face. He asked the baker,
    “How much money do you want?” The baker and the poor man were astonished, but the baker answered, “3
    dinars.” Junha took the money out of his wallet and put it in his pocket and shook the money. “Did you hear
    the sound of the money?” Junha asked. “yes, I did,” the baker replied and with a big smile Junha said, “Well
    then, this costs the same as your bread’s scent.”

    gorgous wings of a beautiful butterfly. “Behold in me,” said the butterfly, “your much pitied friend!”
    So butterfly rose in the air and was lost in the, summer breeze.

“Yes, please! You can take me to my mother.” She directed him to a cemetery. The girl placed
the rose on her mother’s fresh grave. Knowing the girl’s mother had died, the man realized that
he must show his love to his mother while she was still alive. Then, the man returned to the
flower shop. He cancelled the flower delivery order, picked up the rose flowers and drove to
reach his mother’s house.

    tiger. Then the snake woke up and saw the tiger. The snake woke up and saw the tiger. The
    snake twisted itself tighter and tighter, until the tiger couldn’t breathe. The tiger asked the
    mousedeer to help him. But the mousedeer turned and ran away into the forest.

worrying about and not your own?”

    something hard and heavy on his back. He realized he had a cracked rock on his wrinkle body.
            The cheetah came crashing down the mountain to see if the tortoise was OK. He tried to
    help the tortoise to get up and pull the rock off his back. The tortoise screamed in pain because the
    rock wouldn’t come off. The cheetah said “You look better with the rock and it will protect you from
    the sun”.

        “Oh, It’s nothing, this is only the place where the collar put on at night to keep me
chained up, but you will get used to it”.
        “Really? So good bye to your master dog”. Then the wolf walked away.

    “We will see about that,” said the first goat, and he put down his horns to fight.
    “Stop!” said the second goat. “If we fight, we shall both fall into the river and be drowned. Instead I
    have a plan I shall lie down, and you walk over me.”

    Then the wise goat laid down on the bridge, and other goat walked lightly over him. So they passed
    each other, and went on their ways.

  • 1. The following text is for questions number 1 to 4 The Man and His Two Sweethearts A MIDDLE-AGED MAN, whose hair had begun to turn gray, courted two women at the same time. One of them was young, and the other well advanced in years. The elder woman, ashamed to be courted by a man younger than herself, made a point, whenever her admirer visited her, to pull out some portion of his black hairs. The younger, on the contrary, not wishing to become the wife of an old man, was equally zealous in removing every gray hair she could find. Thus it came to pass that between them both he very soon found that he had not a hair left on his head. 1. What did the elder women demand to the man? A. The following text is for questions number 5 to 7 A poor boy sold goods from door to door to pay his school fee. One day he had only a little money left and he was very hungry. He decided to ask for some food at the next house he visited. However he was so nervous when a lovely young woman opened the door. He only asked for a glass of water. The woman thought that the boy was hungry so she gave him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked. “How much do I owe you?” “You don’t owe anything,” she replied, “Mother has taught us never to accept pay for a kindness.” He said, “Then I thank you from my heart.” As the poor boy left that house, he felt stronger. His faith in God was getting stronger too. He had been ready to stop his study but now he got a spirit to continue it until he became a doctor. Some years later that young woman became critically ill. She was sent to the big city to cure her disease. The poor boy was the doctor. When he knew the name of the town she came from. He went to meet her. He recognized her at once. He tried hard to save the woman’s life. From then on he gave special attention to the sick woman. After a long struggle, the woman could be cured. The poor boy paid all the bill. He wrote “Paid in full with one glass of milk” under the bill. When the woman opened the bill, tears of the joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed, “Thank you, God, that your love has spread abroad through human hearts and hands. 5. The donkey rushed up to him and began wagging its tail vigorously and knocked off all the things on the table. It then started jumping around and frolicking like a little dog and finally, plunked itself down on the farmer’s lap. The shocked farmer yelled for help. When he passed, the bakery, he stopped to smell the scent of the bread being emitted. Suddenly, the baker caught the old man and shouted at him, demanding the price of the bread’s scent. He almost dragged him to the police. A very famous wise man named Junha heard the baker shouting. So, he approached him and asked about the problem. Junha stood calmly listening to the baker, as he thought about a solution. After a few minutes, Junha’s eyes glistened and amused smile was on his face. He asked the baker, “How much money do you want?” The baker and the poor man were astonished, but the baker answered, “3 dinars.” Junha took the money out of his wallet and put it in his pocket and shook the money. “Did you hear the sound of the money?” Junha asked. “yes, I did,” the baker replied and with a big smile Junha said, “Well then, this costs the same as your bread’s scent.” 13.
