LEGAL SECRETARY P/T-BILINGUAL SPANISH READ/WRITE/SPEAK (SOUTH PLAINFIELD) Legal Secretary/Paralegal needed at general practice focused in the areas of criminal law, real estate, family law and personal injury, on part-time basis from 12-5pm or 1p-6 pm, must have at least some experience with courts and how they work. Some experience with preparation of legal documents. New paraglegal graduate ok, but must be top 1% of the class, must have paralegal certificate. Most clients at this practice speak Spanish only, so if you are shy about the language, this job is not for you. Additional hours may be available on certain days. Some Saturday hours may be required. This is an hourly paid position. Your hourly rate will be based upon, your experience, your salary history. You will start at a probationary hourly rate and upon acceptance your hourly rate will be increased. You will know exactly what each of these rates will be upon being offered the position. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE: Answering Phones/Taking Messages Setting up Appts./Collecting Consultation Fees from Clients Calling Courts to request adjournments/confirm court dates/request discovery on criminal matters. Preparing Pleadings/Motions for Divorces/preparing ESP memorandums Preparing Files in Personal Injury Matters/Calling Clients re: doctor's appointments/arbitrations dates/preparing arbitration packets Preparing Files in Real Estate Matters, working with realtors, clients- primarily handled by atty, just assisting. Heavy client contact. Filing/Preparation of correspondence in English and Spanish Translation of documents from English to Spanish Maintenance of Files Handling of all mail.
