1] Non-Verbal Communication presented by Pavithra N Mcom student from SJRCW Rajajinagar Bangalore to the Instructor Gangambika mam 2] TOPICS :- Introduction about non-verbal communication, Difference between, types or forms, Why it is important, non verbal communication around the world 3] Introduction :- Nonverbal Communication = Communication without words *Nonverbal Communication was started in the year 1872 by Charles Darwin in his publication "The Expressions of the Emotions in Man and Animals”. *Nonverbal Communication is a process of communication through sending and receiving wordless messages. 4] Meaning :- * It refers to transfer of meaning by body language, space, time and paralanguage. * It is said that “Non Verbal Communication speaks louder than words”. * Non-verbal methods can be created and used with both written and oral communication. 5] Difference Between Verbal & Nonverbal Communication :- (i) Meaning> *The communication in which the sender uses words to transmit the message to the receiver is known as verbal communication. *The communication that takes place between sender and receiver with the use of signs is known as non-verbal communication. (ii) Types> *Formal and Informal. *Chronemics, Vocalics, Haptics, Kinesics, Proxemics, Artifacts. (iii) Time Consuming> *No. *Yes (iv) Chances of transmission of wrong message> *Rarely happens. *Happens most of the time. (v)Documentary Evidence> *Yes, in case of written communication. *No. (vi) Advantage> *The message can be clearly understood and immediate feedback is possible. *Helpful in understanding emotions, status, lifestyle and feelings of the sender. (vii) Presence> *The message can be transmitted through letters, phone calls, etc. so the personal presence of the parties, doesn’t make any change. *The personal presence of both the parties to communication is a must. 6] Types of Non-Verbal Communication :- Body Language, Gestures, Eye Contact, Facial Expressions, Paralinguistics, Proxemics, Haptics, Appearance, Artifacts 7] Why Non-Verbal Communication is important? * It plays an important role in how people interact with one another. * Only 7% of messages effect is carried by words, listeners receive the other 93% through non-verbal. 8] Non-Verbal Around the World 9] THANK YOU FOR YOUR KIND ATTENTION!

Why Effective Communication Matters Student Success: When parents are actively engaged in their child's education, students tend to perform better academically, have higher attendance rates, and exhibit more positive behavior. Mutual Understanding: Effective communication ensures that parents and students understand the school's expectations, policies, and procedures, reducing misunderstandings and conflicts. Support and Collaboration: Building strong relationships between teachers, parents, and students encourages collaboration and support for each student's unique needs. Strategies for Effective Communication With Parents: Open Houses and Parent-Teacher Conferences: Schedule regular meetings to discuss a student's progress. Provide insights into the curriculum and classroom environment. Parent Portals and Communication Apps: Utilize digital platforms to share grades, assignments, and important announcements. Encourage parents to reach out with questions or concerns. Newsletters and Updates: Share regular newsletters or emails with school news, events, and important dates. Highlight student achievements and classroom activities. Face-to-Face Meetings: Arrange individual conferences when necessary to discuss sensitive or complex issues. Show empathy and active listening during these meetings. Translation Services: Ensure communication is accessible to all parents, including those with limited English proficiency. Use translation services or multilingual staff when needed. With Students: Clear Classroom Expectations: Begin the school year by outlining classroom rules and expectations. Encourage questions and discussions to clarify any doubts. Regular Feedback: Provide constructive feedback on assignments and assessments. Offer guidance for improvement and recognize accomplishments. Approachable Attitude: Create a safe and welcoming classroom environment. Be open to students' concerns, questions, and feedback. Inclusive Practices: Acknowledge and respect diverse backgrounds and learning styles. Differentiate instruction to meet individual needs.
