 Types of Questionnaire
What is Questionnaire

A set of questions designed to generate the data

necessary for achieve the objectives of the research

project.
Qualities of Good Questionnaire
The design of a questionnaire will depend on whether the

researcher wishes to collect exploratory information (i.e.

qualitative information for the purposes of better

understanding or the generation of hypotheses on a

subject) or quantitative information (to test specific

hypotheses that have previously been generated).
Major Points for Successful
               Questionnaire
1. A well-designed questionnaire should meet the
     research objectives.

2. It should obtain the most complete and
     accurate information possible. The questionnaire
designer needs to ensure that respondents fully
understand the questions and are not likely to
refuse to answer, lie to the interviewer or try to
     conceal their attitudes
3. A good questionnaire is organised and worded to
   encourage respondents to provide
   accurate, unbiased and complete information.
4. A well-designed questionnaire should make it
easy for respondents to give the necessary
information and for the interviewer to record the
   answer.
5. It would keep the interview brief and to the point
and be so arranged that the respondent(s) remain
   interested throughout the interview.
Type of Questionnaire

 Close Ended Questionnaire
What is the Open Ended Questionnaire

 An open-ended questionnaire is designed to

encourage a full, meaningful answer using the

    subject's own knowledge and/or feelings.
What is the Close Ended Questionnaire

 A closed-ended questionnaire is a question format

that limits respondents with a list of answer

choices from which they must choice to answer

    the question.
Advantage & Disadvantage of
       Open Ended Questionnaire
Advantage:
 Open-ended questions allow respondents to include
more information, including feelings, attitudes and
understanding of the subject. This allows researchers
to better access the respondents' true feelings on an
  issue.
Disadvantage:
 Open-ended questions allow respondents to use their
own words, it is difficult to compare the meanings of
  the responses.
Advantage & Disadvantage of
      Close Ended Questionnaire
Advantage:
 Closed-ended questions can be more specific, thus
more likely to communicate similar meanings.

Disadvantage:
 Closed-ended questionnaire simplicity and limit of
the answers, may not offer the respondents choices
that actually reflect their real feelings.
