The 2013 Good To Go Impact Survey Report presents the results of an online survey sent to participants of the 2011 and 2012 Good To Go Commuter Challenges, gauging the impact of the Commuter Challenge on influencing the year-round commuting behavior of participants. The findings contained in this report include frequency of use of sustainable transportation modes used, specific modes used before and after Challenge participation, and demographic information for respondents.

2. Survey Results
 221 surveys were completed (Response rate of
20.5%)
 40.4% of respondents increased the frequency in
which they commuted sustainably after
participating in the Challenge.

 15% of respondents eliminated driving alone in a
personal automobile following the Challenge.
 19% of respondents who never biked before the
Challenge picked up biking after the Challenge.
Carpool/vanpool before/after=13%, busing=6%,
and walking/running=6%.

Motivation
“Stay fit” and “It sounded fun” were the two most heavily
cited reasons for participating in the Challenge.
Barriers
-59% of respondents cited “Lack of time” and 70% cited
“Weather conditions” as barriers to sustainable
commuting.
-Cold weather commuting significantly lower than warm
weather (#s HERE)

5. Commute Length
The largest portion of respondents (43%) have a one-
way work commute of 1 to 3 miles.
Demographics
60% of respondents were female, and 29% were
between 50 and 59 years of age.

 Any trip you would have otherwise driven in a car
by yourself.
 Work/school
 Shopping
 Running errands
 “Going out”
 Fitness miles or recreational walking or biking do
not count.
