How is leadership encouraged?

Leaders are not produced,
  but an environment of secure (safe) risk
  is created for leaders to take
  responsibility, to use external support,
  and to become support to others

CONSULTANCY - support to school:
•   a model of education consultancy services is designed
•   six training programs for education consultants are prepared
•   a model for the preparation and implementation of the virtual environment
    is developed
DECENTRALIZATION - support to school:
•   a description of the proposed school leadership models is prepared
COMPETENCES - support to an individual:
•   a formal university study program (10 modules) is developed
•   a non-formal study program is developed
•   a model for the implementation of the non-formal study program is
    designed
•   methodology and instruments for longitudinal research of the changes in
    the manifestations of leadership in Lithuania are prepared and longitudinal
    research is carried out

    regional educational centres, filmed
•   Attendance of three conferences: Annual Leadership Conf in GB; ICSEI
    2011 Congress (International forum); ICOT 2011 Conf: Developing a
    Culture of Good Thinking (International forum), presentations at national
    level
•    COMENIUS network: Conf in Tallinn, Bolzano, Material on pre and in
    service training of principals from 26 countries
•   Study visits

Piloting of the results of Stage 1

•     Leadership models with 15 municipalities and 75 schools
•     75 students studing at the university, Leadership program
•     Studies following a non-formal program
•     9 more consultancy programs
•     Redesigning of the legal system to support leadership
•     Two forums with 300 participants each
•     Two more longitudinal researches
•     PR of all the activities of the project (filming and documenting)

•     Translation of 3 more books
•     Translations of articles from foreign languages
•     15 titles of books more on leadership in Lithuanian with presentations and filming

  • 2. Definition of a Leader • Not a principal of the school • Anybody can be a leader in his working place
  • 3. How is leadership encouraged? Leaders are not produced, but an environment of secure (safe) risk is created for leaders to take responsibility, to use external support, and to become support to others

  • 6. Goal of the project • To form the basis for a support infrastructure for leaders in education • To encourage the autonomy of education community

Aims of the project • to develop a market of consultancy services responsive to the needs and opportunities of education entities: • To promote decentralization of education management • to provide conditions for a single and integrated system for the development of the competences of leaders at all levels

Results of 2009-2011 CONSULTANCY - support to school: • a model of education consultancy services is designed • six training programs for education consultants are prepared • a model for the preparation and implementation of the virtual environment is developed DECENTRALIZATION - support to school: • a description of the proposed school leadership models is prepared COMPETENCES - support to an individual: • a formal university study program (10 modules) is developed • a non-formal study program is developed • a model for the implementation of the non-formal study program is designed • methodology and instruments for longitudinal research of the changes in the manifestations of leadership in Lithuania are prepared and longitudinal research is carried out

Glickman, Linda Lambert, -Robert Marzano, Timothy Waters and Brian McNulty-, Douglas Griffin • Translations of articles from foreign languales • 15 titles of books on leadership in Lithuanian procured and introduced at regional educational centres, filmed • Attendance of three conferences: Annual Leadership Conf in GB; ICSEI 2011 Congress (International forum); ICOT 2011 Conf: Developing a Culture of Good Thinking (International forum), presentations at national level • COMENIUS network: Conf in Tallinn, Bolzano, Material on pre and in service training of principals from 26 countries • Study visits

Activities of 2011 - 2014 Piloting of the results of Stage 1 • Leadership models with 15 municipalities and 75 schools • 75 students studing at the university, Leadership program • Studies following a non-formal program • 9 more consultancy programs • Redesigning of the legal system to support leadership • Two forums with 300 participants each • Two more longitudinal researches • PR of all the activities of the project (filming and documenting) • Translation of 3 more books • Translations of articles from foreign languages • 15 titles of books more on leadership in Lithuanian with presentations and filming • Attendance of three conferences: presentations at national level • COMENIUS network: Conf in Leon, finalization of the activities • Study visits
