The document discusses how the author addressed and attracted their target audience of female teenagers for their music magazine. They used bright colors on the cover to catch attention, featured popular artists and gossip that would appeal to teenagers, and kept the price low at £1.99 to be affordable. The contents page included reviews and interviews that research showed the audience wanted. Colorful images and previews throughout provided sneak peaks to entice readers.
2. To attract my audience I focused on the colours of the front cover. As from my questionnaire I picked up that the most appropriate audience for my magazine was to target at female teenagers. The front cover is seen first so is the page that is advertised so I knew I needed it to be outstanding and I believe I have caught that to an extent. I used brighter colours to contrast with the subtlety of the white background. I think my magazine looks sophisticated yet has the element of fun running through it. To attract my target audience I used articles and features on the page that female teenagers would know such as the featured artists which are young fresh and in the charts with pop music. I used a female as the dominant image and I believe it works well as it will relate to the audience. The price attracts the target audience as from my questionnaire research the highest which is 25% of the people I asked thought a reasonable price for a music magazine was £2.50 to £2.99. I thought about this price and as being a female teenager myself I don’t always have a lot of money to spend on luxuries so I chose a more reasonable price at £1.99, this way the magazine is in a budget and is cheaper that they would of paid so would attract the audience with cheapness. The offer attracts the audience as well as everyone likes a discount on something so would attract the youngsters. The name of the magazine I made big and at the top so it stands out so if my magazine is popular by name the audience can find my music magazine through the name. However, although I have good points I think there is room for improvement to make my magazine more attractive, I think I should of used more inserts of bands and more splashes of colours as this would attract more of the attention of the female teenage audience.
3. Also when a consumer looks through my magazine at the contents page to see what more there is inside I knew I needed the contents to include interesting articles about the pop stars of this time and reviews of pop tours. From my questionnaire I discovered that the audience wanted concert reviews, artist interviews, artist fashion and gossip. I believe I took on board what the audience wanted and added my own twist into it. I added reviews which the female teenage audience will find interesting, and the features including the gossip about the pop stars also added a little about the artist fashion which is all what the audience wanted so the audience would be even more attracted to this magazine. The colours I used kept with the house style of my magazine and I added 4 images onto this page as these images give a little sneak peak to who is featured in the magazine. The largest image on the page resembles the most interesting story which I think the audience would enjoy the most so it is eye catching and highlighted as a big story in this magazine. The discount voucher is quite big so the consumer can see it clearly so they are more intrigued to buy for the discount. The language I used on this page is a young language which will attract the target audience. I used the little sneak peak underneath each article to use the creative language, for example I used a teenagers language in the sneak peak such as “Eminem likes rebels – About a rappers sweetheart”. I believe this will attract the audience from the artist featured and the story as his girlfriend must be interesting to read about if I have featured it as an article so the audience can get down on all the latest gossip about the pop star world.
4. The attraction of my article I think is very good as the use of colour and images stands out. The article needs to attract the audience because it the bulk of the magazine so if the article looks good and interesting the audience may want to purchase my music magazine. I used a big dominant image of the band ‘Hollywood’ on the first page to attract the audience into seeing who they are and what they represent, it is farmed in red to make sure it is eye catching enough to be the dominant main image of the page. The other images I used I spread across the double page spread in various places to give the layout a more fun effect to match the playful genre of my magazine. I also framed those images to make them stand out and for the viewer to be satisfied. I used a punchy pull quote from the band just underneath which relates to the audience to draw them in further. I believe this pull quote is interesting and intriguing to draw the audience into wondering what context this is meant so possibly want to read on further to investigate. I wanted to give the audience a little clue as to what my interview is based on so I gave a brief paragraph into what they are and what the interview is based on. This text is in front of a pink box so as it is still small text but with it being highlighted it stands out more to the audience. The language I used was fun and used some slang in there as well, highlighted by punctuation (!). In the interview its self I used pink text in the questions as I thought that this way it would be easier for the consumer to navigate their way through the questions if they only wanted to read through certain parts of the interview.
