The music of Argentina is known mostly for the Tango dance music which originated in Buenos Aires in the late 19th century. Folk music called "musica folklorica" also developed in different regions of Argentina and helped inspire a revival in the 1950s. The Tango is a syncopated ballroom dance style in 2/4 or 4/4 time that originated from European immigrant populations in Argentina, Cuba, and Spain. Painting in Argentina was influenced by German Jesuits and indigenous peoples, with Carlos Morel becoming the first influential painter in the 1830s. Architecture features works from Juan Buschiazzo in the Beaux-Arts style to Cesar Pelli, the most famous Argentinian architect worldwide

parts of AR. Los Chalchale & Los
Fronterizos, both in 1950, they inspired a
revival of the genre in AR. There are
around 37 different genres recognized.
Folk is very popular amongst the

3. Painters & Sculptors
● ART: German Jesuits were early painters
along with indigenous and also slaves
painted under force. Carlos Morel became
the first influential painter in the 1830's.
● Prilidiano Pueyrredon (1823-1870) &
Candido Lopez(1840-1902) who painted
the life of gauchos and the wars of pre
modern Argentina.
● SCULPTORS: Erminio Blotta (1892-1976)
was a self taught sculptor and an Italian.
He studied with sculptor Jose Nardie and
Blotta's work included busts mostly made
of clay then bronze and marble. Blotta
was also a commentator for “La Nacion”
and was also a “Massage Therapist”. His
sculptors were in Argentina, Spain, and
Israel.
4. Architecture● There are many architects,but here are a
few plus their style of architecture.
● Juan Buschiazzo; “Beaux-Arts
● Francisco Gianotti; “Art Nouveau”
● Francisco Salamone; “Art Deco”
● Cesar Pelli is probably the most famous
world wide, from Argentina, emigrating to
the US 1952 & a US citizen in 1964. He
designed some of the tallest buildings on
earth. The NY Twin Towers, Malaysia's
Twin towers, and buildings all over the
USA, England, Japan, Argentina, Mexico,
Hong Kong, Spain, UAE, Qatar, and Chile.
Mr. Pelli served as dean of the School of
Architecture at Yale and they also gave
him an honorary Doctorate degree. His
Firm currently employs around 100 people
in New Haven, Connecticut.
5. Film● Argentina produces around 80 new
films per year. The worlds first
animated films were made in AR in
1917 by Quirino Cristiani.
● AR created major Spanish classic films
between the 1930's to the 1950's and
many Tango performers became some
of the major stars of AR.
● During the “New Wave” of cinema
creation in the 1980's, many films
achieved world wide recognition.
● A new generation of AR directors has
caught the attention of critics world
wide. AR composers, Luis E. Bacalav,
Gustavo Santaolalla & Eugenio Zanetti
have been honored w/ Academy
Awards. Lalo Schifrin has received
many Grammy's & is best known for
the “Mission: Impossible” theme.
