2. Library Expectations
The Larson Library is a place that belongs to
everyone: students, teachers, and staff.
There are rules about how you act in the library in
order to help make it a pleasant and useful place for
everyone to visit.
3. ● Speak in a quiet voice (whisper)
● Act safely
● Take care of shared materials
and shared spaces
○ Return materials on time
○ Push in chairs
○ Keep feet off furniture
● Conserve paper and place used
paper in recycling bins
● No food allowed in library;
covered drinks are allowed.
What are the Behavior Expectations in the
school library?
● Warning: If you have trouble
following these rules and expected
behaviors, your teacher or
librarian will remind you of them.
However, if you still have trouble
following the rules, you will be
asked to leave the library.

4. Beginning of Period
● Sign out of study hall/classroom
● Sign in/out at circulation desk
○ First/Last name
○ Time in/Time out
○ Bathroom, locker, office,
etc.
How do I Sign In/Out of the school library?
End of Period
● Students are released approximately
8-10 minutes at the end of each
library period
○ All students must sign out and go
directly back to study hall
○ Violation of the policy will result
in not being allowed to come to
the library for one week.
5. How do I get a Library Pass?
Mondays: Juniors
Tuesdays: Sophomores
Wednesdays: Freshmen
Thursdays: Juniors
Fridays: Sophomores
1. See Mrs. Porter in the
school library for a pass
2. Passes are given out only
during the following
times:
a. Before advisor
b. At locker break
6. May I use a Cell Phone in the school library?
● Students may check cell phones during the first five (5) minutes of the
library period (Period 4: after 2 pm)
● Students may use cell phone to listen to music using the following
guidelines:
○ Select music for period (Do NOT keep changing music selection)
○ Leave cell phone face down on table
● Students may use charging stations on tables to charge cell phones
○ Cell phone must be face down on table when charging
● Cell phones must be left at sign out desk if leaving the library to go to
the bathroom, office, or to see a teacher
● With permission, a cell phone may be used for academic purposes or to
contact a parent/guardian
● Violations: result in loss of cell phone or being sent to the office
7. Books must be signed out from the library using
the automated library system.
1. Bring book(s) to school librarian
2. Need: (1) Student ID Number & (2) Book Barcode
3. Due date will be written in back of book
4. Check out period: 2 weeks
5. Books may be renewed for extended period of time
6. Two(2) books out at any given time (special permission may be granted)
7. Overdue: email warning & names posted
8. Excessively overdue books will be billed to student
How do I Check Out a Book?
8. What about social media & watching movies?
● Students should Not be accessing social media, texting, watching movies,
or playing online games in the school library unless it directly relates to
academics at WA. The school librarian should be notified by the student
if this is the case.
● Reminder: Students are allowed to check their phones
in the school library during the first 5 minutes of each
library period and the last 15 minutes of the school day.

scissors, rulers, colored and lined
paper, calculators, erasers, pencils,
glue sticks, etc.
Please note: Shared
resources do NOT leave the
school library!
