The Martians eventually depart, and the narrator is able to head toward Central London. He

of this plan and the overall laziness of his companion and abandons the artilleryman to his
delusions. Heading into a deserted London, he is at the point of despair and offers his life to the

Cold Harbor vs. Gaines Mill Even though the battle of Gaines Mill took place at the same
battleground as the battle of Cold Harbor, the battle of Cold Harbor and the battle of Gaines mill
were not nearly the same. The battle of Gaines Mill was a battle fought in the Civil War. It took
place on June 27, 1862 in a small town located about 10 miles from Richmond. It lasted one to

so important to the Union army that they tried capturing the same town two years later! It was

rhetorical analysis essay, logos, pathos, and ethos that are used in the Annual Address will be
clearly identified and evaluated. The Annual Address written by Joseph Jackson discusses the
issues of discrimination and racism. It was written and delivered at the 84th Annual Session of the
National Baptist Movement. Unlike many others back in history, Jackson believes that actions
should be taken place before any demanded result. Jackson appeals to his fellow race to take
action and adds credibility to his claims by using historical examples from the past. Also, Jackson
makes personal connections with his targeted audience, black people, which builds trust between
the speaker and the reader. We will be examining the context of the this speech and Jackson s

The Annual Address starts off discussing the foundation of this nation. Into a few paragraphs, he
addresses the civil rights struggle and the reason behind it. About half of his speech address some
advice and suggestions for the future of the black people. Joseph Jackson writes the Annual
Address, telling the black people to put an action in their beliefs and for justice, in a way
contradicting King s perspective on peaceful protests. In page two, Jackson states, What is this
struggle for civil rights? I answer, it is an effort of American citizens to get full equality of
opportunity. It is the resolution and the determination that there shall be in these United States one
class of citizens and that is first class citizens. This is a struggle to adopt in practice as well as
theory the concept of man on which the Declaration of Independence is based, and to fully
implement the Federal Constitution, one of the greatest documents for human freedom since the
writing of the Magna Carta. The civil rights struggle is a struggle for full freedom, justice, and
equality before the law. It is a struggle to bring from paper the lofty ideals of America, and to
apply them in practice to the lives and actions of all Americans. In reality it is America s struggle
to be herself, to fulfill the highest promises of her being, and to build a social order after
