Finding Nemo Comparison
Pixar s Finding Nemo can surely be considered a modern day classic film. It is films like There
Will Be Blood, Inception, and Argo that prove that a spectacular film can be made in a time
where Hollywood has obviously run dry on original ideas. But, what happens when you create a
sequel to a classic? Can the sequel become a classic as well, or at least be as good as its
predecessor? Although some sequels have become classics themselves (The Dark Knight), many
have fallen flat and pale in comparison to the original (Return to Oz). Finding Dory, the highly
anticipated sequel to Finding Nemo, is by no means a classic. However, it both successfully brings
back the humorous and familiar characters we know and love and introduces new ones to remember,

Along the way, Dory is captured by researchers and put in a facility in California, where she
befriends several aquatic creatures including Hank (Ed O Neill), a stubborn yet emotional octopus.
Hank yearns to go to an aquarium in Cleveland where all of the not qualified for research fish are
sent.
Hank plays the same role as Dory did in Finding Nemo. He is the minor character who steals the
show whenever he is on screen. Ed O Neill brings a curmudgeon like personality to him, which is
something unique to the film. The happy go lucky attitude of Dory and the friends she meets along
the adventure bring a positive and fun atmosphere to the film, but Hank s realness brings it back
down to Earth. Ed O Neill truly keeps Finding Dory from becoming the usual light hearted animated
film.
The comedy in Finding Dory is certainly Ellen DeGeneres strongpoint. She clearly loves playing
Dory and enjoys the emotional range that comes with her. One moment she is making the audience
laugh because of Dory s forgetfulness, and in the next moment she is dramatically moving us with
Dory s scattered memory of her

China s Reform And Opening Up
As the three FIE Laws were introduced at the start of China s reform and opening up, they serve
as fundamental laws for foreign investment issues in China for almost 40 years. However,
because of the rapid and deeper development of China s economy in recent years, these laws face
a number of issues. 1.1.Conflicts with the Company Law Under current relevant laws and
regulation, foreign investors have several options to set up their businesses in China. They can
establish corporations in the form of EJVs, CJVs or WFOEs under the EJV law, CJV law or
WFOE law respectively. In addition, they can set up limited liability companies ( LLC ) under the
Company Law as well. Generally, Company Law is focus on regulating domestic enterprises instead

These supervisors should be appointed or elected by shareholders and employees. As the FIE
laws do not mention this matter, limited liability FIEs like EJVs should also comply with
Article 52. However, under the FIE laws, shareholders meeting is not regarded as an
authoritative body and therefore there is no provision or framework for FIEs to deal with the
shareholders voting procedures. Although the board of directors, which is the highest authority
under the FIE laws, can appoint supervisors, the appointment would be inappropriate and
doubtable because supervisors responsibility is to supervise those directors . 1.2.Excessive
regulation of foreign invested enterprises According to the current FIE laws, a case by case
approval system is applied to all FIEs. Obtaining of positive approvals for investment projects
from National Development and Reform Commission ( NDRC ) is the first step; Afterwards,
approval for establishment should be acquired from MOFCOM; In order to operate the firm, a
business license, which is granted by the State Administration of Industry and Commerce ( SAIC
), is required . Approvals are also required on every significant issues such as the transfer of
controlled capital or shares, merger and acquisition, liquidation and so on. In the case Qingyue

transferring from the plaintiff to defendant in 2006. The

Summary Of The Novels
Numerous characters in the novel use these technologies to further their own goals. Case, the
cowboy , hacks various systems for monetary gain but, he is, also, addicted to the matrix and the
cyberspace. Case agrees to work for Armitage in exchange for repairs of his nervous system,
which grants him back the ability to enter the matrix. He doesn t have any knowledge of what is
the objective of their mission. He is motivated, mostly, by the ability to interact once again with
the cyberspace and to rise above the condition of a simple meat (Miller and Wagner Martin 57).
The interaction with the cyberspace is described as ultimate physical experience and is compared
to an orgasm (Roberts 174) Molly states I saw you stroking that Sendai;... Show more content on

However, both are dependent on their cybernetic enhancement and are unable to function
properly without them. McCoy Pauley, Dixie Flatline, is the character who is problematic to the
traditional notion of a character. He is a computer program (an algorithm) that can mimic dead s
individual personality and habits. He does everything a conscious person does: laughs, answers,
possesses a self awareness and the desire to die. However, he can t attain a sense of self identity
and, therefore, he isn t real (Roberts 175 177). Armitage, unlike McCoy Pauley, has the body of a
real human being. However, as the story progresses characters realize that Armitage is some sort
of flesh construct, a ROM personality build around the fragmented identity of a real man named
Corto, who was almost killed in a military raid. Eventually, the Corto s personality emerges through
Armitage; he is insane and is killed by Wintermute. In contrast, Armitage had self preservation
habits. Even though, Armitage was just a programmed personality, built by Wintermute, he seemed
more real and human than his actual identity, Corto (Roberts 176 177). For some entire clans, like
the Tessier Ashpools, the progress in technology was their demise. Their plan to retain control over
their corporation fails as family members become increasingly unstable, most likely due to their
unusual existence (cloning and being cryogenically frozen and refrozen in labs): Ashpool kills

Comparing The Time Period Of Joseph Hansberry s The Sun
As you begin to compare the time period in which A Raisin in the Sun was written, the 1950s, and
now, you can find many similarities and differences regarding racial equality in the Chicagoland,
even more specifically the south side. The Younger family, deriving from the African American
descent, in Lorraine Hansberry s play, has trouble finding happiness when they are surrounded by
successful white people, while they are stuck living in a two bedroom apartment and struggle to
make ends meet. In the 1950s, it was much harder for African Americans to find jobs where they
could make a substantial living to provide for their families, but in today s society the opportunities
for the black racehave improved immensely, although a problem with their pay grade still persists.
On the other hand, the two time periods are similar in the respect that the environment on the
Southside of Chicago today is very similar to what it was like almost 60 years ago. Additionally,
just like in the play, police force continues to be an issue, whether that be because they favor a
certain race, or police brutality; shooting people with the wrong intentions. More problems that
exist today include, gang violence, protests, and segregated schools in the poorer black
communities. While the Chicagoland continues to struggle with problems regarding racial equality,
they have made many improvements such as the development of organizations to keep children off
of the streets and out of trouble as well as

An Abstract View of Death in Mrs.Dalloway and The Hours
Works Cited Missing
In Mrs. Dalloway and The Hours contradictory and almost altered views of death are presented.
Virginia Woolf and Michael Cunningham portray death as escape for some, but an entrapment
for others. It is no longer treated as a subject to worry about or fear, which society now views it
as. A line from Shakespeare s Cymbeline, Fear no more the heat o the sun / Nor the furious winter
rages, sums up what the authors of Mrs. Dalloway and The Hours are trying to convey. Meaning
that death is not something to fear, and life should be lived to the fullest.

Richard Brown, however, is slowly dying of AIDS. He is a writer who s about to receive an
award for his work. Most notably was a novel he wrote about the death of his mother, Laura
Brown, who abandoned him at a young age. His medications are giving him a similar reaction to
time and reality as Septimus had. This point is illustrated when Clarissa Vaughan goes to visit
Richard on her way back from getting flowers. Richard says, Sorry. I seem to keep thinking things
have already happened. When you asked if I remembered about the party and the ceremony, I
thought you meant, did I remember having gone to them. And I did remember. I seem to have
fallen out of time (Cunningham 62).
There were alternate reasons for suicide in each character s case. Septimus would have lived even
though he was clinically insane, but he committed suicide for relief and a sense of freedom. His
death meant that he no longer had to deal with his illness which was a burden to him and his
wife, Rezia. Richard suicide was based more on his illness. He knew that he was eventually going
to die from his disease. But there are

Abstract:
Time operated electrical appliance controlling system is a reliable circuit that takes over the task
of switch on/off the electrical devices with respect to time. This project replaces the Manual
Switching. Most used devices at home are electrical light, electric fan, air conditioner. Operator
may not be at home and may be somewhere in a different place and if the necessity arises to
control these home appliances there must be some source to control and monitor the home
appliances. It has an Inbuilt Clock which tracks over the Time. When this time equals to the
programmed time, then the corresponding device is switched ON. The switching time can be
edited at any Time using the keypad. The Clock is displayed on LCD display.
Introduction:
The main objective of this work is to design and construct a micro computer based system to control
electric appliances such as light, fan, heater, washing machine, motor, TV, etc. The most important
problems
faced are the misusage of electricity and its wastage. Sometimes due to carelessness of the
persons lamps or fans are left ON which results in wastage of electricity. The project helps to
overcome all these problems. Microcontroller is used to supervise the actions of all other devices
and to control the entire set of

Political Geography And Corporate Political Strategy
Political geography and corporate political strategy of Murad Antia, Incheol Kim and Christos

corporate lobbying, who uses corporate lobbying and the implication of corporate lobbying based
on the constant changes in the political map(mid term and presidential elections). Political
geographyand corporate political strategy also examines the relationship between political
geography and corporate political strategy as measured by lobbyingexpenditures . M. Antia, I. Kim
and C. Pantzalis found that firms tend to increase lobbying expenditures when a shift in the
political map puts them further away from the president, in other terms, companies tend to increase
lobbying intensity when they lose access to political power. They also found that the primary goal
of lobbying is to build political capital to take advantage of short term opportunities. And finally,
they identified that when their ties to the center of political power diminish, increasing lobbying
intensity can increase valuation. This article discusses why firms engaged in corporate lobbying
and how firms engaged in corporate lobbying tend to out perform non lobbying firms.

on Korean traditions As history goes by the world structure, politics, and economy changes from

First of all it is necessary to figure out what Confucian philosophy is all about. Confucianism is
philosophy that dates back to the VI century BC and carries an ethical and political character
(McDevitt, 2007). It implies the ideas related to the issues of morality, family and ways of
effective governance. Confucian is widespread in China and countries that had a cultural exchange
with China. So, along with the monuments of written Chinese came to Korea and Confucianism.
According to Confucian teachings, one of the main components of society is the family, where
individual learns the language, culture and religion (Yao, 2000). For centuries, men had greater
power than women had. This patriarchal family regime remains same in many countries
nowadays as well as in Korea (Sleziak, 2013). In ancient Korea, main unit of society was the clan
that consisted of couple of families having same parents and grandparents through male line. The
preference thus was given to men. Families followed Confucian orders that youngsters should
unconditionally obey to the elders. More than that, Confucian scholars argued that a person could
learn important thing from family only. Only in the family person could gain such important
qualities as love of the country and a sense of justice necessary for service to the state (Yao, 2000).
However, this obey lessons did not relate to families only they

case, seems to be a commodity arrangement that is considered an augmentation over the current
governance curriculum. Any arrangement, which promotes a manager to contract mass individuals
who are at a fault, is practical for the economy, especially since more individuals are employed. In
fact, it should be the administration s main objective to lessen the quantity of individuals who are
on welfare or guaranteeing unemployment. Indubitably, generating credits for managers who are
willing to employ individuals on welfare and out of work, only advocates... Show more content on

Indeed, even the U.S. Armed force has opened numerous employment opportunities for women,
despite the fact that there is still controversy and an extraordinary resistance against this change.
Different drawbacks incorporate, long breaks at work because of numerous reasons, for
example, time off work to handle family matters or a situation involving an infant or child.
Unfortunately, anyone who lacks training or work experience is thought to be at a disadvantage.
For instance, The Hire Heroes Act of 2011 is a Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) project,
which is overseen by the IRS and urges managers to contract qualified veterans while receiving an

The Roles Of Auditing And Assurance Services
Introduction
The role accounting firms played in the last financial crisis raised questions about the legitimacy of
auditing and assurance services. Auditors, who are considered independent and are supposed to
provide reliable information to financial statement users, played a major part in the financial
institutions crisis. The role of auditing is not to stop management from making poor business
decisions, but it is to make sure that those decisions are properly disclosed (Rapoport, 2010).
However, auditors failed to fulfill that role while auditing some of the largest financial institutions,
which led to a huge financial meltdown during the first decade of the 21st Century. As a result of
the financial crisis, questions regarding the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
However, it is important to assure a greater independence and objectivity that offset the cost of
switching. One example where auditors independence raised question is when the Ernest Young
auditors allowed Lehman Brothers to use the off balance sheet financing method to hide its
leverage. Ernest Young helped Lehman Brothers, a company they audited for many years, to
mislead investors about the company s financial position which eventually led to its collapse.
Audit Deficiencies
External auditors could have prevented the collapse of large financial institutions by being more
skeptical and exercising professional due care while servicing their clients. In many cases, auditors
failed to obtain sufficient evidence supporting key assumption of management asset valuations,
asset ownerships or the use of accounting estimates. Ernst Young failed to exercise professional due
care while auditing Lehman Brothers.
Lehman Brothers used Repo 105 transactions that a British law firm approved for them to make its
balance sheet look better and Ernst Young agreed to the accounting management applied to these
transactions without actually examining any of the Repo 105 transactions. According to Tracy
Coenen (2010), Ernst and Young didn t even check the impact of these transactions on Lehman

Beaker Bell Pottery
The appearance of Beaker Bell pottery in Europe is one ceramic innovation which is still not
fully understood today (Waddell 2010, 121) as their distribution is irregular stretching from
Hungary to Ireland. Several Beaker Bell pottery types have been identified in Britain and
Ireland; those of different sizes, ware type (ibid). Many of the pottery that has survived in
Ireland are those which have been used for burial, although also used for drinking, storage and
cooking (Gibson 2002, In: Waddell 2010, 121). Residue analysis showed the pottery was used
for holding alcohol and drugs, but as the pots themselves would not hold liquids for long it was
like a prehistoric drinking challenge (Guerra Doce 2006, 248). Pottery sherds have been
uncovered from a number of settlements in Ireland; Dublin, Limerick, Meath and Tyrone to
name a few locations. It was only when wedge tombs were excavated in the 1930s that there was
actual proof of Beaker Bell existence in Ireland and from that it was assumed the people were an
important component of the Irish population at that time (Waddell 2010, 129) and they were also
recognised as the people that introduced the understanding of metal working to Ireland. The
Beaker Folk are all connected by their similar techniques and artefacts but their geographical
location seems to be an influence in their day to day practices, for example the stark difference in
Irish and British Beaker Bell funerary rituals (Waddell 2010, 130). It seems the one

Freedom Of Speech And Freedom Of Speech
One of the most complex things in establishing in a government is determining how much freedom
the citizens in a society has. Throughout history we have seen many different type of governments
that include North Koreas dictatorship to the United States that has a government based on
principles of democracy. In societies that have democratic governments such as the United States,
England, France, and many other western European countries, the citizens have a high degree of
freedom of speech. In addition, these people are allowed to have a high degree of freedom of
thought. Although these are both very important to have in life because they allow you to express
who you truly are, there is a difference between freedom of speech and freedom of thought. While
there is a difference between freedom of speech and freedom of thought, English Philosopher John
Stuart Millprovides his opinion on the importance of freedom of speech and freedom of thought in
his book On Liberty. Whether you are a person who is wealthy or poor, highly educated or not
educated at all, or even a minority, every person in a democratic society such as the United States is
granted the right of freedom speech. Other countries throughout Western Europe grant the right of
freedom of speech to their citizens. However, the right of freedom of speech is granted by the
United States constitution which was written during the eighteenth century. It is clear that the
countries that allow the right of freedom of

Essay on The History of the Guitar
The Guitar is a stringed musical instrument with six or twelve strings that is played by either
plucking or strumming the strings. It is one of the most popular instruments in the world. If an
individual were asked to identify a guitar most people would answer the question correctly more so
than they would if they were asked about another instrument. When people think about famous
guitarists, they more than likely think of famous rock and roll guitarists and do not think about the
many other famous guitarists in other musical genres such as jazz or country. The guitaris a well

The Guittern was shaped like a violin, played with a pick, and had the ability to be tuned in octaves
or in unison. This tuning ability was never used in other guitar instruments. Compared to the
modern day guitar, the Guittern lacked a movable bridge and a saddle. The Guittern was also the
first instrument to use wire strings instead the traditional gut strings used in stringed instruments
(Kentor Michael 4).
After the Guittern, the guitar s structure stayed the same and had little changes. One of the slightly
improved guitars was called the Ghitarra Battente. The Ghitarra Battente was the first guitarlike
instrument to use a saddle, a movable bridge, and led the trend towards metal frets (4). The
Ghitarra Battente helped the popularity of the guitar grow tremendously. This instrument somewhat
slowed down the development and improvements to the guitar until the 1500s. In the 1500s, the
Vinuhela de Mano was introduced to the world. The Vinuhela de Mano is the the largest guitar to
date and set the size for the modern guitar. This instrument had several soundholes on the top of
the guitar, was played using a pick, and used gut strings. The Vihuela de Mano resembles the
modern twelve stringed guitars. The first publication of music for the guitar was published in 1564
and was called Tres Libros de Musica en Cifras para Vihuela. After the Vihuela de Mano, many

An Episode Of War Naturalism Essay
During the 1800 s, concept of realism, or portraying life accurately as possible, as well as the
concept of naturalism, or suggesting that events that take place are out of one s control, were both
very popular concepts that were portrayed in art and literature. In the passage, An Episode of War ,
both of these two concepts seem to be present, but the concept of naturalismseems to be more
accurately portrayed since it is emphasized consistently throughout the beginning, middle, and end
of the passage.
The idea of naturalism is clearly emphasized right when the lieutenant gets shot, as he realized

lieutenant in order to sympathize for what had happened to him, because they could not do
anything in their power to help him or reverse what had happened, since it was beyond their control.
There was no one to fight back with or no one to further protect, which was mainly the only thing
they could have done to help. All they could do was sympathize for the lieutenant and what had
happened to him, because the events that had taken place were beyond their control, and there was
nothing that they could do with their skills to have prevented it or made it better at the moment
than just feel bad for the lieutenant and the situation in which he was in. Naturalism is clearly
shown through the middle of the passage as the writer emphasizes how the people around the
lieutenant realized that the events that took place were beyond their control, and there was nothing
which they could have done either before or at the moment to prevent or better the current

Bend It Like Beckham Globalization
Without globalization the world would not be how it is today. Throughout all the movies shown
this semester, there have been many cultures shown with different views on globalization. The
idea that globalization is the act of globalizing, or extending to other or all parts of the world.
Bend It Like Beckham is a movie that deals with globalization; however, also shows the
obstacles that go along with cultural modifications between India and America. In Bend It Like
Beckham, it showed a girl who idealizes playing soccer. However, with her being a Punjabi Sikh
Indian from Hounslow in west London her parents forbidden her to play because of the solo fact
that she was a girl. In America girls playing a sport has become more of a norm and are

Teenage Pregnancy In The United States
During the 1600s and up to the early 1900s in the United States, teenage pregnancy was not
identified as a social problem. Instead, the only issue during this time was the pressure of
conceiving out of wedlock. Early family formation during the colonial times was considered normal
for Americans due to the ease of access on resources and land. In the United States, teenage
pregnancydeveloped into a social problem through the progression of women s roles in society and
lack of contraceptives which resulted to American citizens having to pay higher tax dollars in order
for the government to financially support teen pregnancy and prevention programs.

Therefore, the responsibilities that women took on during the colonial times presented many as a
housewife to independent working women during World War II. Because of the change, women
prioritized their financial needs over starting a family, leading the decline of family formation at
an early age. Nonetheless, when men came back from war, the United States underwent a baby
booming era from 1946 to 1964, so women, including teenage girls started families. Starting from
the 1970s, America s employment rate increased causing many older women to stop forming
families and work. Teenage girls, however, did not. Instead, the numbers for teen pregnancies
skyrocketed to about 750,000. Through this came a second change that caused teenage
childbearing to become an issue: Congress enacted Title X and welfare programs to help teen
mothers, taxing taxpayers of America about 9.4 billion dollars yearly. The third change is the
increasing amount of awareness and contraceptives provided to teenagers ever since the outburst in
the 1960s. This is due to the prevention programs and reproductive health care facilities, causing
teen pregnancies to decrease starting from the 1990s. The health clinics like Planned Parenthood
offered teens subsidized contraceptive which is something that failed to occur in the 1960s because

The Disputed Island Territories within the South China Sea and the Subsequent Buildup of Naval

The territorial disputes in the South China Sea have been a minor ongoing issue with multiple
sovereign states, most notably Brunei, the Peoples Republic of China, the Republic of China,
Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam, claiming overlapping territory in the Spratly Islands, Paracel
Islands and the area around the Gulf of Tonkin. The overlapping claims began in 1876 with China
s earliest documented claim to the islands ( Territorial Disputes, 2015). However, more recently
these same nations have begun to be more aggravate aggressive in their claims and the issue is now

This idea of self preservation is essential to any sovereign state, and all take a similar stance on
national security as the United States. One of protection. In order to accomplish this it is
necessary for states to be able to implement goals on an international stage, thus requiring a
certain amount of power. When it comes to the issue of obtaining power, two major methods
become apparent. The control over space and the control over physical place. Both of these
options available to states focus on power as Condign (based on force), Compensatory (the use of
various resources) or Conditioned (result of persuasion), and their sources as Personality
(individuals) and Property (their material resources) (Galbraith, 1983).
Concepts of Power
The first method is a more modern approach. Power via influence over territory instead of direct
ownership has become the field which most modern day nations find themselves fighting. While
control over place allows for direct manipulation, it is more costly than power through the use of
space . This method has been used since the early 20th century as nations begin to realize that
physical control of land is not essential. Instead countries can influence one another through things
such as control over essential commodities, trade routes or political influence. Even with this being
a more, politically correct, approach to control and involves less direct management, it is difficult to
dispute the obvious advantages physical

The War of the Worlds: Book and movie adaptation comparison
By
Magaidh Gordon
Part A: Summary
Text:
The War of the Worlds (1898), a science fiction novel by H. G. Wells, is the first person narrative
of an unnamed protagonist s (and his brother s) adventures in Surrey and London as Earth is
invaded by aliens. Written in 1895, it is one of the earliest stories that details a conflict between
mankind and an extraterrestrial race. Despite its age, this book is still a widely enjoyed classic,
and has inspired nearly 50 movies, 6 Broadway productions, and 2 musicals (one of which I
personally own) in its time! The War of the Worldspresents itself as a factual account of the Martian

The narrator escapes detection by hiding in the coal cellar.
The Martians eventually depart, and the narrator is able to head toward Central London. He
once again encounters the artilleryman, who briefly persuades him to cooperate in a grandiose
plan to rebuild civilization underground. But after a few hours the narrator perceives the lunacy
of this plan and the overall laziness of his companion and abandons the artilleryman to his
delusions. Heading into a deserted London, he is at the point of despair and offers his life to the
aliens when he discovers that the invaders have died from microbial infections to which they had
no immunity, since there are no bacteria in Mars. The narrator realises with joy that the threat has
been vanquished. The narrator suffers a brief breakdown of which he remembers nothing, he is
nursed back to health by a kind family, and returns home to find his wife, whom he had given up
for dead. The last chapter, entitled Epilogue, reflects on the significance of the invasion and the
abiding sense of doubt and insecurity that it has left in the narrator s mind.

Minisatellites Essay
Minisatellites
Along with the development of the PCR, a new type of polymorphism of DNA was discovered in
the DNA structure known as hypervariable minisatellites. Large proportion of the eukaryotes
genomes is consists of non coding DNA. Usually, this non coding region carries some regulatory
elements such as promoters and enhancers but in many cases it also contains repetitive elements,
e.g. multiple repeats (Turner et al., 1998). These repetitions include satellite DNA, which comprises
thousands of tandem repeats in one site, as well as minisatellite and microsatellite DNA, depending
on the number of repeats (Vanhala et al., 1998). These minisatellites are defined regions of DNA
with polymorphisms in the number of repeated nucleotide ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Typically they may be dinucleotides (AC)n, (AG)n, (AT)n; trinucleotides (TCT)n, (TTG)n;
tetranucleotides (TATG)n and so on, where n is the number of repeating units within the
microsatellite locus. In addition to occurring at many different loci, they can also be polyallelic
(Selkoe and Toonen, 2006). They are repeated (usually 5 20 times) in the genome with a minimum
repeat length of 12 base pairs (Goodfellow, 1992). Liu et al., 2001c profound that the best known
examples of microsatellites within coding regions are those causing genetic diseases in humans,
such as the CAG repeats that encode polyglutamine tract, resulting in mental retardation.
Microsatellites tend to mutate with mutation rates of up to 10 2 per generation (Bruford and
Wayne, 1993). Variation in the number of tandemly repeated units is mainly due to strand slippage
during DNA replication where the repeats allow matching via excision or addition of repeats
(Schlotterer and Tautz, 1992). As slippage in replication is more likely than point mutations,
microsatellite loci tend to be hypervariable. Microsatellite assays show extensive inter individual
length polymorphisms during PCR analysis of unique loci using discriminatory primers sets.
Microsatellites are inherited in a Mendelian fashion as codominant markers (Schlotterer, 2004).
This is strength of microsatellite markers in addition to their

Facilitators In William Shakespeare s Richard II
Shakespeare s Richard II is a play which depicts the last few years of England s King Richard s
rule. John of Gaunt, who is the 1st Duke of Lancaster and Richard s uncle, is a sick and dying
man who believes men of his situation as great counsel to the youth. Oh, but they say the
tongues of dying men enforce attention like deep harmony (Act 2, Scene 1, 39). Shakespeare
uses Gaunt as the introductory facilitator for his metaphoric description of England as a garden,
where Richard is described as the royal gardener who is mismanaging the garden; lending to the
second fall of humanity through the loss of what is an imaginary Eden. It is Gaunt s hope that
Richard will listen to the advice he has to offer from his deathbed, but Duke of York doubts he
will. Instead, York is of the opinion, Richard listens only to those whom flatterer him and that his
taste for luxury is overwhelming. Gaunt insists that Richard s reign will not last long; giving a
speech in praise of England... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

garden is England and the plant needing pruning is the royal family. The gardener explains that
the weeding and pruning process is necessary for the long range life of the garden. In the same

Stereotypes Of Ethnic Entrepreneurs
As with female entrepreneurs, ethnic entrepreneurs also face huge stereotypes that affect their
enterprises. They include the stereotypes that ethnic entrepreneurs only enter markets that need low
capital and education levels, are on a small scale with high labor and very little value. It is also
commonly thought that ethnic entrepreneurs only start their own businesses because they do not
have a chance being employed, and therefore start their organizations to make ends meet. So the
common generalization about ethnic entrepreneurs is that they are under educated people who

Limiting ethnic entrepreneurs to particular industries, or excluding them from white dominated
industries such as construction, which is known to be exclusive to a network affects the rate at
which ethnic entrepreneurs break out of their expected industry into others. They find it difficult to
break into the exclusive bond or network created by among the industry members after many years
of segregation patterns (Geagin and Imani, 1994). Ethnic entrepreneurs therefore face a lot of
discriminatory encounters when they venture into the industries and therefore do not survive most
of the time. Although much research has been launched into women entrepreneurship and
immigrant and minority entrepreneurship as separate topics, there does not seem to be much focus

Cold Harbor vs. Gaines Mill Even though the battle of Gaines Mill took place at the same
battleground as the battle of Cold Harbor, the battle of Cold Harbor and the battle of Gaines mill
were not nearly the same. The battle of Gaines Mill was a battle fought in the Civil War. It took
place on June 27, 1862 in a small town located about 10 miles from Richmond. It lasted one to
two hours. This battle resulted in a Confederate victory. General Robert Lee commanded the
Confederate army and General George McClellan commanded the Union army. This town was
so important to the Union army that they tried capturing the same town two years later! It was
important because they needed to capture Cold Harbor in order to capture the Confederate
capitol of Richmond, Virginia. The battle of Cold Harbor was located in the same place as
Gaines Mill. It took place on May 31 and ended on June 12. General Grant and his Union army
went up against General Lee and his Confederate army. Lee had won again. Grant and his army
would have won the battle of Cold Harbor but his plan was ruined. Grant had to postpone the
battle to June third instead of June second because he needed to wait for more troops to arrive.
This gave Lee more time to get ready for the attack and the next day, the Union army got
slaughtered. These battles were not nearly the same because General George McClellan

Plea Bargain Analysis
The most common thing that is done when defendants are sentenced, is that they are heard in
front of a judge to receive their punishment for their conviction. Another alternative would be a
plea bargain, a plea bargain is when a defendant pleads guilty in order to receive a lesser or their
charges could be dropped ( Lecture 6, 2016 ). This analysis will go over a plea bargain for Mario
whom is being charged with possession of methamphetamine and with a DUI with a BAC of .08

justification of the offer. Now that Mario has been charged with two counts, which are
possession, driving under the influence, and his bac was .08/.09 just barely reaching legal
limits. In fact, BrAC is used to assess impaired driving; in the United States, for those of legal
drinking age, it is illegal to drive with a BrAC above 0.08% (Martin, Chaney, Cremeens
Matthews, J., Vail Smith, (2016). The prosecuting side would like to offer deal, instead of taking

How did World War II affect American Society? Kirsty Gourlay
On December 7th, 1941, Japanese fighter planes staged an attack on U.S naval and military forces
based in Pearl Harbour, Hawaii. In around just two hours, America suffered from approximately
3,435 casualties including 2,000 deaths. The shattering defeat cost the U.S, 8 battle ships and
around 200 airplanes. The following day, President Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on
Japan. This was approved, and more than two years into the conflict, America had eventually fully

Companies that were going bankrupt months before were now literally begging for labourers
and some even suffered from a shortage of workers. This was mainly due to the rapid production
levels the country needed to produce military equipment including ammunition and vehicles etc.
A short time after the U.S. declaration of war, the unemployment rate dropped a massive ten per
cent from its previous amount. After taxes, business profits almost doubled and industrial output
increased massively at 96 per cent. Government expenditure also sored dramatically to 53 per
cent of GDP at its peak in 1945, in comparison to around 20 per cent of GDP previous to the war.
This contributed to business recovery and gave companies the kick start they needed. Due to
productivity doubling, consumer goods also expanded. The war consumed one third of industrial
output and this ensured a constant supply of goods, the U.S being the only country with a
significant rise in supply despite rationing. Wages also rose 50 per cent higher by 1944, this was a
combination of over time pay and wage increases etc.
Men were drafted out to fight in the war in large numbers which contributed to unemployment
figures creating jobs for others. Those that previously were skilled, high paid labourers and worked
in industries such as welding etc. were forced to sign up to the military.

Research Study On Stanford Prison Experiment
PART A: QUESTION ONE Research Design and Method: Name the experiment or research you
have chosen: Stanford Prison Experiment Name the researcher/s involved: Phillip Zimbardo
When was the experiment conducted? 1970 s What is the Research Problem being studied?
(Step One) The research problem being studied is; how does the attitude of the administrate in a
prison effect the lives and mindset of the inmates in the prison? that the state of the social
institution of prison is due to the nature of the people who administrate it, or the nature of the
people who populate it, or both. Zimbardo, 1973, A Study of Prisoners and Guards in a
Simulated Prison, page 2 Zimbardo implies the reason there are negative attitudes in prisons is
because of the authority figures in the prison rather than the inmates themselves (although to some
extent they do play a part in the aggression). What is the Hypothesis? (Step Two) the negative
personality traits of prisoners and guards are the main cause of abusive behaviour in prison. The
hypothesis was something that Zimbardo seemed to not entirely believe himself but thought it
some extent it had to be right, given other research in the field pointed toward I being true but
more on the prisoner s side, than the guards. Describe the Research Method (Experimental

Abortion Throughout History Essay
Abortion Has No Excuse Abortion has taken the lives of more than 50 million babies since 1973 (
About Abortion ). The issue of abortion is one of the most common controversial issues in
American politics and culture. In modern society, many women that have an unintended pregnancy
and they result to abortion without researching other options. Abortion is not a substitute for birth
control and this issue should be taken seriously. The individual woman needs to understand that by
agreeing to have an abortion she is agreeing to kill an innocent fetus. Abortion rips the unborn

In the 1973 Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade a pregnant women, Norma McCorvey (also known
as Jane Roe ) seeked to end her pregnancy. Through the fight of the court, it was declared that
most state anti abortion laws were unconstitutional. However, many rules were set into place. In
the first trimester of pregnancy (0 12 weeks), states could not interfere with any abortion. During
the second semester (13 28 weeks) states could allow a regulated abortion in ways that are
related to mental health or even a proscribed abortion. Within the third trimester (29 40 weeks) a
women can only get an abortion if it is to preserve the health or life of the mother. Alongside Roe
v. Wade, in the 1992 case Planned Parenthood of Southeastern PA v. Casey, the court ruled that a
state could require a woman seeking an abortion to give informed consent and to wait 24 hours
and in the case of a minor they need to obtain parental consent (Ayers). Throughout abortions long
history of pro choice and pro life, modern society needs to be fully educated on the topic so they
can see how terrible pro choice is. Instead of abortion, consider adoption. Nowadays many couples
suffer because they want to have kids but are having trouble trying to conceive. Abortion inflicts
suffering on the unborn child because childhood begins at conception not at birth; therefore,
abortion is the killing of an innocent human being. Instead of

Criticism Of Praise Praise
Praise is an action that parents, teachers, and adults overly use when they desire an action from
students and children. Most of the time, adults say phrases such as Good Job or Fantastic to boost
the moral of students or children. But praise doesn t always lead to positive growth of an
individual in the long run. There is, however, a stronger alternative to praisethat many 21st century
Western societies haven t quite accepted. This is known as criticism. We see criticism everywhere
in our daily lives; from the workplace, to sporting events and competitions, and even in schools
across America. It s a lot stronger than praise because it provides students with a basis of
comparison, and truth and honesty. Therefore, criticism has a betterlong term effect on feedback
and growth and should be balanced with praise because it allows students to learn from previous
mistakes or issues, forcing them to make a positive change about themselves that could potentially
help in the future. There are many problems that appear with the use of general praise on its own.
For one, praise feeds into the ego of a student, forcing them into a lazy mindset from the overflow
of approval. Carol Dweck, a theorist of human motivation, believes that praising traits feed the
belief that talent is fixed, which makes kids less willing to take on new challenges that might
expose them as less naturally able (Kamenetz). With praise, the child will be less determined to
take risks and complete

Similarities Between Salem Witch Trials And Mccarthyism
McCarthyism and the Salem Witch Trials
McCarthyism and the Salem Witch Trials are notorious events in American History. Although they
weren t contemporary, it is undeniable that they are related. McCarthyism was from about 1950 to
1954, or when World War 2 had finished and the Cold War was heating up. There was anxiety in
countries all over the world and people were beginning to panic. First term senator from Wisconsin,
Joseph McCarthy, did nothing to comfort the nation. In February of 1950, Joseph McCarthy
presented a speech that claimed he had a list of 205 communists in the State Department
(History.com). Joseph McCarthy s egotistical action resulted in people losing trust in America s
government. President Dwight Eisenhower and other ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the beginning of McCarthy s second term as senator, he was put in charge of the Committee on
Government Operations, which permitted him to expand his investigation. Despite the absence of
proof of subversion, more than 2,000 government employees were jobless due to McCarthy s
conjecture (History.com). Not only did McCarthy s erratic actions cause complications in the
government, it ruined relations within the citizens. Trust was nonexistent and everything was
second guessed. Stress was more of a problem than before and the outcome was people were
hopeless. McCarthyism was one of the most muddled movements in American history, but it was
not the only movement that divided us from one another. The Salem Witch Trials were another
one of America s plights that triggered a parting in society. McCarthyism and the Salem Witch
Trials are undoubtedly alike in a couple ways. During both of these events, select actions were
intolerable. In the McCarthyism era, people were accused of subversion, or communist actions.
Being accused of subversion was looked at not much differently than being a terrorist. You were
put on trial which had the potential to land you in prison. In 1692, the time of the Salem Witch
Trials, people were accused

Visigoths Black sea, what do you think of? Probably water that s black, that s what comes to my

first originated from. That s modern day Romania/ Moldova today. The Visigoths were consider
amber merchants while they settled at the Baltic sea for a short amount of time. Where did they
go? They surely aren t there now. You are correct, the Visigoths migrated to modern day Spain
.
They settled in a small community called Toledo. Arab invaded Spain in 711 which caused the

Eric, The Huntsman s Journey
Eric, the Huntsman, seems to be somewhat an outcast in his character. Due to the fact that he only
wants to care for himself and wishes not to obey anyone, especially the spiteful Queen Ravenna.
Although, he was forced to take the task to find what the Queen wanted, which was Snow White,
he is desperate and tortured knowing that he will not get his wife back whether or not he goes to
find the princess, yet he took this mission anyways.
The Huntsman s Journey
The Huntsman happened to obey orders and take this journey as the Queen demanded, although he
expects something in return, something that means everything to him. He was set out into the Dark
Forest to find Snow White and supposably kill her, when unanticipatedly he was her savior and
protector throughout their journey together. Throughout this adventure, Snow White and the
Huntsman became closer together as the days went on. He taught her some survival skills to where

that he was responsible for what happened. He was not there when it happened and he wished we
would have been.
The Initiation
In the movie, initiation does occur. The Huntsman is separated by what he knows in his village to
be able to survive anything that approaches the Dark Forest. He is then able to transform into a
better hero than what he expected to be by staying by Snow White s side, knowing he could not
let even the slightest thing happen to her. For his return, he is able to watch the princess defeat the
evil Ravenna from what he had taught her and watch her become the new Queen of the Kingdom
of Tabor. He had a good feeling knowing that everything would go back to normal with Snow White
being Queen.

Gangsta s Paradise Gcse Analysis
The song itself is accessible in terms of the sound it is definitely not tough and dirty rap for only
Hip Hop biggest and the most dedicated fans but pop music enthusiasts would also like the track.
The melody is very catchy and easy to remember. However, the situation is absolutely different
in terms of lyrics. Gangsta s Paradise is the example of dark rap about the unreal lifestyle of the
young criminals from poor districts of the United States1. The video starts with the picture of
school corridor but this one is extremely unfriendly. There are few pupils who are definitely not

Coolio, while explaining the helpless situation of those young people, is walking around with
the one single candle. Symbol of hope? Does not seem so because in the video only the very last
scene presents one fragment from the movie which is optimistic: Michelle Pfeiffer and her
students laughing, dancing clearly to Hip Hop, having fun. The rest of the video is very dark.
Scenes selected from the movie are focused on the aggressive behavior of school kids and
vulnerable teachers who gave up on them. Abandoned buildings with graffiti on the walls, very
simple classrooms, fights and the police who is not asking questions this is the world of black

problems which young people from the poorest districts of the United States were facing every day.

Boston Marathon Bombing Research Paper
Security at Major Events
The Boston Marathon Bombing improved security at major events. One way the Boston Marathon
Bombing changed security was the cut down of bandits at the marathon. That was Mackenzie
Lobby, a frequent runner, swimmer and biker, having run the Boston Marathon before. Bandits are
unregistered runners that run in marathons across America. This was a good change because the
marathon administration will know who is registered to run in the marathon so they are able to
check the past histories of the runners and decrease malicious behavior in the actual marathon. This
will also increase the effectiveness of the marathon because there will be less of a crowd if all the
runners are registered. Another way the Boston Marathon ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

One way the bombing increased the study of terrorism in the U.S. is stated by Steve Bucci, of the
Heritage Institute. The Heritage Organization is the nation s largest, most broadly supported
conservative research and educational institution. The commentator of the article, 60 Terrorist Plots
Since 9/11: Continued Lessons In Domestic Counterterrorism, Steven Bucci states; The third most
common target was mass gatherings, like the Boston Marathon, nightclubs and bars, and shopping
malls (Bucci). According to Bucci, mass gatherings have been a target for numerous years and the
Boston Marathon Bombing could have happened anywhere, from a mall, to another marathon. The
Boston Marathon Bombing brought the issue of terrorism in the U.S. back into international
spotlight. Another reason the bombing increased the study of terrorism is introduced by the Global
Terrorism Database. According to the Global Terrorism Database, the amount of attacks and deaths
per year are increasing from 2013. This is important because the Boston Marathon Bombings could
have had an influence on these attacks. This also increased the study of the causes and motives of
terrorism and throughout studies, many have been Jihadists, who were doing the attacks to side
with their beliefs. According to the Johnston Archive, which was created by a Scientist that studied

The War On Israeli Occupation
War is generally considered a to be a heinous act, a harbinger of death, destruction and disaster.
War is often fought for ignorant reasons such as wealth and property, although defence and
fighting for the greater good is often exhibited through history. Its facile to claim that war is
unjustifiable under personal or political reasons, or that it s a waste of human life and that passive
resistance is the key. Nevertheless, in opposition, there are particular circumstances in which war is
justifiable. Examples of this are: Under international bodies of law (Geneva and Haug conventions),
the principals of the just wartheory which is in stark contrast to 2 other approaches on the concept
of war, being Pacifismand Realism , as well as Islamic reasoning on the conduct, darurah
(necessity) and justifications of initiating or continuing conflict as well as theoretical and historical
understandings of what it means for a war to be just. An ongoing example being the war on Israeli
occupation by the Palestinians, another example being the British interference in the Second World
War against the belligerent Nazi regime. Although, in retrospect, the Second World War is also
used in pacifist ideologies, against war justification. Various academic enumerations interpret and
apply the renowned just war Theory including Peter S.Temes s The just war: an American
reflection on the morality of war in our times as well as discussions on the Islamic etiquettes of war

One Hundred Years Of Solitude Intertwining Family Tree
Intertwining Family Tree In the book One Hundred Years of Solitude by Gabriel Garcia Marquez,
the Buendia family establishes the town of Macondo, located in Columbia, in the 18th century. The
Buendia s family had created the town on their own and they were also left there alone, in solitude,
at the end book. Hence the name of the novel. To create absolute solitude Marquez had to create
incest within the Buendia family. Incest means that they were making love and having kids with
their brothers and sisters as well as their aunts and cousins. This creates an interlocking family tree.
With the family reproducing within the household they have isolated themselves from the other
members of society. Today in modern society we see insect as is forbidden... Show more content on

These things will never be known. From the book we can conclude that the absolute way to have
complete solitude would be to create a family with an obsession with incest. That way no one
would leave and the house would only grow to fit more relatives rather than outsiders. The
question if incest is right or wrong is never brought up by the villagers in the novel because if it
was the author wouldn t be able to tell a tale of One Hundred Years of Solitude. Solitude would be
broken if the outsiders saw incest as something else rather than normal. Incest the first sin and the
last, it is what started the book and what had also ended it. Without it there would be no story and
there would be no Buendia family. It would ve changed into something else over the five
generations. The story was told in a circle, what had happened in the beginning would foreshadow
the ending. A pig s tail to a pig s

Siblings In The Film, The Crow Indian Brothers
On June 27, 1978, two Crow Indian brothers, Bobby and Tyler were killed by a 44 car Conrail

the film revealed that the two brothers had run away from home because they knew what their
stepfather was doing to their sister. The Crow Indian siblings were adopted into a white Baptist
family that also adopted their biological sisters seven years earlier. The crow Indian siblings were

was something they will never get. Losing two brothers at the same was hard for them to deal
and how they died effect on them. The main question what was Bobby and Tyler doing laying on
the railroad tracks? In my opinion, I do not think Bobby and Tyler s death was not an accident
because the story did not make sense to me and did not make sense to siblings either. The
siblings knew their brother would not lay down on the track and if they were laying on the track
why didn t they get up. I believe the father did something to brothers because they were aware of
what he was doing to their sister. Lana discloses this information to her brother and her brother

Descriptive Essay About Bodybuilding
Often times when people think of bodybuilding they get the impression it s all about how much
weight you can lift, what s your max bench, or how much can you squat. To tell the truth, that s
what I thought it was all about, but sure enough I was wrong. Bodybuilding is all about being
concerned on how your body looks. Having symmetry, muscularity and conditioning that is if you
plan on competing professionally. It s all about engaging the muscleyour working out, getting a
nice squeeze, and having a slow controlled movement. I used to think it was all about working
out, but diet plays a huge key. I decided to spend a day with my brother who goes to the gym on a
regular basis and has competed several of times, and knows a lot more about bodybuildingthan I
do. I am awaken by the sunlight coming from my window as if someone was pointing a flash
light on my eyelids. I grab my phone to check what time it is. My phone reads eight o clock. I
can t recall the last time I woke up this early, especially on a weekend. I struggle to get out of my
nice, cold, and comfortable bed, but I eventually do. As I walk downstairs to the kitchen, I hear
the noise of a knife hitting the cutting board. Breakfast, the most important meal of the day, my
brother says as he cuts the meat. He then gets a measuring cup and fills it with oatmeal, adds a
little bit of water and heats it up for a couple of seconds and takes it right back out. He then begins
adding some honey on top, this is going to

Nasa s Space Exploration
When one thinks of space, one is always left with questions because humanity can still not
describe it fully. When attempted, the general public describes it as an area in, which Earth
exists and is made up of solar systems consisting of a sun and planets. But nowadays, space has
turned into so much more; with recent discoveries space can be seen as a living system in which
there is a possibility that other life besides humanity is present. In the past space travel was said
to only be able to send drones or robots past the moon, but with recent advances the transport of
humans is closely becoming a fact. These advances in science are driven by the recent discoveries
like the fact that life was once present on Mars. However some among humanity... Show more

One of the arguments comes from conservative people of various faiths. Their argument follows
the belief that God only created one planet of life, causing any scientific theories related to life
outside of Earth to be rejected, since it would disprove the belief that God created Earth. Another
argument is that the money used to fund NASA s space exploration could be used in a better way.
According to Piers Bizony, I have for some time considered space research a gross waste of
money, time and effort that could be much better applied to the management of our own planet.
(9) This argument is understandable however the fact that global warming, and rainforests
depleting is occurring provides more of an incentive in finding another planet with life. It would
allow for a rebirth and have the world start over, since both of the effects are a caused by
humanity s daily lives. A third argument is that the Earth has not even been fully discovered yet
so it makes no sense to explore outside of it. According to Gary Westfahl In short, the history of
our species powerfully suggests that progress will come from continued stable life on Earth, and
that a vast new program of travel into space will lead to a new period of human stagnation. (11)
This argument is true that Earth has still not been discovered, but Westfahl fails to acknowledge
that with the study of Earth like planets we learn more about our universe and our planet. This
allows for the study of two subjects with one planet ultimately leading to a greater understanding of

Rhetorical Address
Logos, pathos, and ethos have been existing to empower and strengthen our writing. In this
rhetorical analysis essay, logos, pathos, and ethos that are used in the Annual Address will be
clearly identified and evaluated. The Annual Address written by Joseph Jackson discusses the
issues of discrimination and racism. It was written and delivered at the 84th Annual Session of the
National Baptist Movement. Unlike many others back in history, Jackson believes that actions
should be taken place before any demanded result. Jackson appeals to his fellow race to take
action and adds credibility to his claims by using historical examples from the past. Also, Jackson
makes personal connections with his targeted audience, black people, which builds trust between
the speaker and the reader. We will be examining the context of the this speech and Jackson s
perspective and claims.
The Annual Address starts off discussing the foundation of this nation. Into a few paragraphs, he
addresses the civil rights struggle and the reason behind it. About half of his speech address some
advice and suggestions for the future of the black people. Joseph Jackson writes the Annual
Address, telling the black people to put an action in their beliefs and for justice, in a way
contradicting King s perspective on peaceful protests. In page two, Jackson states, What is this
struggle for civil rights? I answer, it is an effort of American citizens to get full equality of
opportunity. It is the resolution and the determination that there shall be in these United States one
class of citizens and that is first class citizens. This is a struggle to adopt in practice as well as
theory the concept of man on which the Declaration of Independence is based, and to fully
implement the Federal Constitution, one of the greatest documents for human freedom since the
writing of the Magna Carta. The civil rights struggle is a struggle for full freedom, justice, and
equality before the law. It is a struggle to bring from paper the lofty ideals of America, and to
apply them in practice to the lives and actions of all Americans. In reality it is America s struggle
to be herself, to fulfill the highest promises of her being, and to build a social order after

  • 3. Finding Nemo Comparison Pixar s Finding Nemo can surely be considered a modern day classic film. It is films like There Will Be Blood, Inception, and Argo that prove that a spectacular film can be made in a time where Hollywood has obviously run dry on original ideas. But, what happens when you create a sequel to a classic? Can the sequel become a classic as well, or at least be as good as its predecessor? Although some sequels have become classics themselves (The Dark Knight), many have fallen flat and pale in comparison to the original (Return to Oz). Finding Dory, the highly anticipated sequel to Finding Nemo, is by no means a classic. However, it both successfully brings back the humorous and familiar characters we know and love and introduces new ones to remember, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Along the way, Dory is captured by researchers and put in a facility in California, where she befriends several aquatic creatures including Hank (Ed O Neill), a stubborn yet emotional octopus. Hank yearns to go to an aquarium in Cleveland where all of the not qualified for research fish are sent. Hank plays the same role as Dory did in Finding Nemo. He is the minor character who steals the show whenever he is on screen. Ed O Neill brings a curmudgeon like personality to him, which is something unique to the film. The happy go lucky attitude of Dory and the friends she meets along the adventure bring a positive and fun atmosphere to the film, but Hank s realness brings it back down to Earth. Ed O Neill truly keeps Finding Dory from becoming the usual light hearted animated film. The comedy in Finding Dory is certainly Ellen DeGeneres strongpoint. She clearly loves playing Dory and enjoys the emotional range that comes with her. One moment she is making the audience laugh because of Dory s forgetfulness, and in the next moment she is dramatically moving us with Dory s scattered memory of her ... China s Reform And Opening Up As the three FIE Laws were introduced at the start of China s reform and opening up, they serve as fundamental laws for foreign investment issues in China for almost 40 years. However, because of the rapid and deeper development of China s economy in recent years, these laws face a number of issues. 1.1.Conflicts with the Company Law Under current relevant laws and regulation, foreign investors have several options to set up their businesses in China. They can establish corporations in the form of EJVs, CJVs or WFOEs under the EJV law, CJV law or WFOE law respectively. In addition, they can set up limited liability companies ( LLC ) under the Company Law as well. Generally, Company Law is focus on regulating domestic enterprises instead ... As the FIE laws do not mention this matter, limited liability FIEs like EJVs should also comply with Article 52. However, under the FIE laws, shareholders meeting is not regarded as an authoritative body and therefore there is no provision or framework for FIEs to deal with the shareholders voting procedures. Although the board of directors, which is the highest authority under the FIE laws, can appoint supervisors, the appointment would be inappropriate and doubtable because supervisors responsibility is to supervise those directors . 1.2.Excessive regulation of foreign invested enterprises According to the current FIE laws, a case by case approval system is applied to all FIEs. Obtaining of positive approvals for investment projects from National Development and Reform Commission ( NDRC ) is the first step; Afterwards, approval for establishment should be acquired from MOFCOM; In order to operate the firm, a business license, which is granted by the State Administration of Industry and Commerce ( SAIC ), is required . Approvals are also required on every significant issues such as the transfer of controlled capital or shares, merger and acquisition, liquidation and so on. • 5. Summary Of The Novels Numerous characters in the novel use these technologies to further their own goals. Case, the cowboy , hacks various systems for monetary gain but, he is, also, addicted to the matrix and the cyberspace. Case agrees to work for Armitage in exchange for repairs of his nervous system, which grants him back the ability to enter the matrix. He doesn t have any knowledge of what is the objective of their mission. He is motivated, mostly, by the ability to interact once again with the cyberspace and to rise above the condition of a simple meat (Miller and Wagner Martin 57). The interaction with the cyberspace is described as ultimate physical experience and is compared to an orgasm (Roberts 174) Molly states I saw you stroking that Sendai;... McCoy Pauley, Dixie Flatline, is the character who is problematic to the traditional notion of a character. He is a computer program (an algorithm) that can mimic dead s individual personality and habits. He does everything a conscious person does: laughs, answers, possesses a self awareness and the desire to die. However, he can t attain a sense of self identity and, therefore, he isn t real (Roberts 175 177). Armitage, unlike McCoy Pauley, has the body of a real human being. However, as the story progresses characters realize that Armitage is some sort of flesh construct, a ROM personality build around the fragmented identity of a real man named Corto, who was almost killed in a military raid. Eventually, the Corto s personality emerges through Armitage; he is insane and is killed by Wintermute. In contrast, Armitage had self preservation habits. Even though, Armitage was just a programmed personality, built by Wintermute, he seemed more real and human than his actual identity, Corto (Roberts 176 177). For some entire clans, like the Tessier Ashpools, the progress in technology was their demise. • 6. Comparing The Time Period Of Joseph Hansberry s The Sun As you begin to compare the time period in which A Raisin in the Sun was written, the 1950s, and now, you can find many similarities and differences regarding racial equality in the Chicagoland, even more specifically the south side. The Younger family, deriving from the African American descent, in Lorraine Hansberry s play, has trouble finding happiness when they are surrounded by successful white people, while they are stuck living in a two bedroom apartment and struggle to make ends meet. In the 1950s, it was much harder for African Americans to find jobs where they could make a substantial living to provide for their families, but in today s society the opportunities for the black racehave improved immensely, although a problem with their pay grade still persists. On the other hand, the two time periods are similar in the respect that the environment on the Southside of Chicago today is very similar to what it was like almost 60 years ago. Additionally, just like in the play, police force continues to be an issue, whether that be because they favor a certain race, or police brutality; shooting people with the wrong intentions. More problems that exist today include, gang violence, protests, and segregated schools in the poorer black communities. While the Chicagoland continues to struggle with problems regarding racial equality, they have made many improvements such as the development of organizations to keep children off of the streets and out of trouble as well as ... Virginia Woolf and Michael Cunningham portray death as escape for some, but an entrapment for others. It is no longer treated as a subject to worry about or fear, which society now views it as. A line from Shakespeare s Cymbeline, Fear no more the heat o the sun / Nor the furious winter rages, sums up what the authors of Mrs. Dalloway and The Hours are trying to convey. Most notably was a novel he wrote about the death of his mother, Laura Brown, who abandoned him at a young age. His medications are giving him a similar reaction to time and reality as Septimus had. This point is illustrated when Clarissa Vaughan goes to visit Richard on her way back from getting flowers. Richard says, Sorry. I seem to keep thinking things have already happened. When you asked if I remembered about the party and the ceremony, I thought you meant, did I remember having gone to them. And I did remember. I seem to have fallen out of time (Cunningham 62). There were alternate reasons for suicide in each character s case. Septimus would have lived even though he was clinically insane, but he committed suicide for relief and a sense of freedom. His death meant that he no longer had to deal with his illness which was a burden to him and his wife, Rezia. Richard suicide was based more on his illness. This article studies the purpose of corporate lobbying, who uses corporate lobbying and the implication of corporate lobbying based on the constant changes in the political map(mid term and presidential elections). Political geographyand corporate political strategy also examines the relationship between political geography and corporate political strategy as measured by lobbyingexpenditures . M. Antia, I. Kim and C. Pantzalis found that firms tend to increase lobbying expenditures when a shift in the political map puts them further away from the president, in other terms, companies tend to increase lobbying intensity when they lose access to political power. They also found that the primary goal of lobbying is to build political capital to take advantage of short term opportunities. And finally, they identified that when their ties to the center of political power diminish, increasing lobbying intensity can increase valuation. First of all it is necessary to figure out what Confucian philosophy is all about. Confucianism is philosophy that dates back to the VI century BC and carries an ethical and political character (McDevitt, 2007). It implies the ideas related to the issues of morality, family and ways of effective governance. Confucian is widespread in China and countries that had a cultural exchange with China. So, along with the monuments of written Chinese came to Korea and Confucianism. According to Confucian teachings, one of the main components of society is the family, where individual learns the language, culture and religion (Yao, 2000). For centuries, men had greater power than women had. This patriarchal family regime remains same in many countries nowadays as well as in Korea (Sleziak, 2013). In ancient Korea, main unit of society was the clan that consisted of couple of families having same parents and grandparents through male line. The preference thus was given to men. Families followed Confucian orders that youngsters should unconditionally obey to the elders. More than that, Confucian scholars argued that a person could learn important thing from family only. Only in the family person could gain such important qualities as love of the country and a sense of justice necessary for service to the state (Yao, 2000). Auditors, who are considered independent and are supposed to provide reliable information to financial statement users, played a major part in the financial institutions crisis. The role of auditing is not to stop management from making poor business decisions, but it is to make sure that those decisions are properly disclosed (Rapoport, 2010). Beaker Bell Pottery The appearance of Beaker Bell pottery in Europe is one ceramic innovation which is still not fully understood today (Waddell 2010, 121) as their distribution is irregular stretching from Hungary to Ireland. Several Beaker Bell pottery types have been identified in Britain and Ireland; those of different sizes, ware type (ibid). Many of the pottery that has survived in Ireland are those which have been used for burial, although also used for drinking, storage and cooking (Gibson 2002, In: Waddell 2010, 121). Residue analysis showed the pottery was used for holding alcohol and drugs, but as the pots themselves would not hold liquids for long it was like a prehistoric drinking challenge (Guerra Doce 2006, 248). Pottery sherds have been uncovered from a number of settlements in Ireland; Dublin, Limerick, Meath and Tyrone to name a few locations. It was only when wedge tombs were excavated in the 1930s that there was actual proof of Beaker Bell existence in Ireland and from that it was assumed the people were an important component of the Irish population at that time (Waddell 2010, 129) and they were also recognised as the people that introduced the understanding of metal working to Ireland. The Beaker Folk are all connected by their similar techniques and artefacts but their geographical location seems to be an influence in their day to day practices, for example the stark difference in Irish and British Beaker Bell funerary rituals (Waddell 2010, 130). Throughout history we have seen many different type of governments that include North Koreas dictatorship to the United States that has a government based on principles of democracy. In societies that have democratic governments such as the United States, England, France, and many other western European countries, the citizens have a high degree of freedom of speech. In addition, these people are allowed to have a high degree of freedom of thought. Although these are both very important to have in life because they allow you to express who you truly are, there is a difference between freedom of speech and freedom of thought. While there is a difference between freedom of speech and freedom of thought, English Philosopher John Stuart Millprovides his opinion on the importance of freedom of speech and freedom of thought in his book On Liberty. Whether you are a person who is wealthy or poor, highly educated or not educated at all, or even a minority, every person in a democratic society such as the United States is granted the right of freedom speech. Because of the change, women prioritized their financial needs over starting a family, leading the decline of family formation at an early age. Nonetheless, when men came back from war, the United States underwent a baby booming era from 1946 to 1964, so women, including teenage girls started families. Starting from the 1970s, America s employment rate increased causing many older women to stop forming families and work. Teenage girls, however, did not. When it comes to the issue of obtaining power, two major methods become apparent. The control over space and the control over physical place. Both of these options available to states focus on power as Condign (based on force), Compensatory (the use of various resources) or Conditioned (result of persuasion), and their sources as Personality (individuals) and Property (their material resources) (Galbraith, 1983). Power via influence over territory instead of direct ownership has become the field which most modern day nations find themselves fighting. While control over place allows for direct manipulation, it is more costly than power through the use of space . This method has been used since the early 20th century as nations begin to realize that physical control of land is not essential. These repetitions include satellite DNA, which comprises thousands of tandem repeats in one site, as well as minisatellite and microsatellite DNA, depending on the number of repeats (Vanhala et al., 1998). In addition to occurring at many different loci, they can also be polyallelic (Selkoe and Toonen, 2006). They are repeated (usually 5 20 times) in the genome with a minimum repeat length of 12 base pairs (Goodfellow, 1992). Liu et al., 2001c profound that the best known examples of microsatellites within coding regions are those causing genetic diseases in humans, such as the CAG repeats that encode polyglutamine tract, resulting in mental retardation. Microsatellites tend to mutate with mutation rates of up to 10 2 per generation (Bruford and Wayne, 1993). Variation in the number of tandemly repeated units is mainly due to strand slippage during DNA replication where the repeats allow matching via excision or addition of repeats (Schlotterer and Tautz, 1992). As slippage in replication is more likely than point mutations, microsatellite loci tend to be hypervariable. This analysis will go over a plea bargain for Mario whom is being charged with possession of methamphetamine and with a DUI with a BAC of .08 /.09 on the prosecuting side, what defense counsel would like to offer, and giving the reason for justification of the offer. Now that Mario has been charged with two counts, which are possession, driving under the influence, and his bac was .08/.09 just barely reaching legal limits. In fact, BrAC is used to assess impaired driving; in the United States, for those of legal drinking age, it is illegal to drive with a BrAC above 0.08% (Martin, Chaney, Cremeens Matthews, J., Vail Smith, (2016). The prosecuting side would like to offer deal, instead of taking the case to trail the prosecutors will offer Mario 6 months to a year in county jail, following 1 to 2 years of probation upon release. Kirsty Gourlay On December 7th, 1941, Japanese fighter planes staged an attack on U.S naval and military forces based in Pearl Harbour, Hawaii. In around just two hours, America suffered from approximately 3,435 casualties including 2,000 deaths. The shattering defeat cost the U.S, 8 battle ships and around 200 airplanes. The following day, President Roosevelt asked Congress to declare war on Japan. This was approved, and more than two years into the conflict, America had eventually fully committed to the war. December of 1941, fundamentally altered the United States and its role globally. Pearl Harbour changed attitudes related to war involvement for many American s. Patriotism soared like ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Companies that were going bankrupt months before were now literally begging for labourers and some even suffered from a shortage of workers. This was mainly due to the rapid production levels the country needed to produce military equipment including ammunition and vehicles etc. A short time after the U.S. declaration of war, the unemployment rate dropped a massive ten per cent from its previous amount. After taxes, business profits almost doubled and industrial output increased massively at 96 per cent. Government expenditure also sored dramatically to 53 per cent of GDP at its peak in 1945, in comparison to around 20 per cent of GDP previous to the war. This contributed to business recovery and gave companies the kick start they needed. Due to productivity doubling, consumer goods also expanded. The war consumed one third of industrial output and this ensured a constant supply of goods, the U.S being the only country with a significant rise in supply despite rationing. Wages also rose 50 per cent higher by 1944, this was a combination of over time pay and wage increases etc. Men were drafted out to fight in the war in large numbers which contributed to unemployment figures creating jobs for others. (Step One) The research problem being studied is; how does the attitude of the administrate in a prison effect the lives and mindset of the inmates in the prison? that the state of the social institution of prison is due to the nature of the people who administrate it, or the nature of the people who populate it, or both. Zimbardo, 1973, A Study of Prisoners and Guards in a Simulated Prison, page 2 Zimbardo implies the reason there are negative attitudes in prisons is because of the authority figures in the prison rather than the inmates themselves (although to some extent they do play a part in the aggression). What is the Hypothesis? (Step Two) the negative personality traits of prisoners and guards are the main cause of abusive behaviour in prison. The hypothesis was something that Zimbardo seemed to not entirely believe himself but thought it some extent it had to be right, given other research in the field pointed toward I being true but more on the prisoner s side, than the guards. In the first trimester of pregnancy (0 12 weeks), states could not interfere with any abortion. During the second semester (13 28 weeks) states could allow a regulated abortion in ways that are related to mental health or even a proscribed abortion. Within the third trimester (29 40 weeks) a women can only get an abortion if it is to preserve the health or life of the mother. Alongside Roe v. Most of the time, adults say phrases such as Good Job or Fantastic to boost the moral of students or children. But praise doesn t always lead to positive growth of an individual in the long run. There is, however, a stronger alternative to praisethat many 21st century Western societies haven t quite accepted. This is known as criticism. We see criticism everywhere in our daily lives; from the workplace, to sporting events and competitions, and even in schools across America. It s a lot stronger than praise because it provides students with a basis of comparison, and truth and honesty. Therefore, criticism has a betterlong term effect on feedback and growth and should be balanced with praise because it allows students to learn from previous mistakes or issues, forcing them to make a positive change about themselves that could potentially help in the future. There are many problems that appear with the use of general praise on its own. For one, praise feeds into the ego of a student, forcing them into a lazy mindset from the overflow of approval. Carol Dweck, a theorist of human motivation, believes that praising traits feed the belief that talent is fixed, which makes kids less willing to take on new challenges that might expose them as less naturally able (Kamenetz). Year one to two experiences a 77.8% growth and year two to three experiences 46.7% growth. These numbers are reasonable based on how diligently SG invests in marketing and sales. The reason growth fades from 77.8% down to 46.7% is due to the unlikeliness that extremely high and consistent growth will be sustainable for long periods of time. The three largest expenses of SG include marketing and selling costs, material costs, and labor costs. The capital spent by the business per square foot is $9.24 (corrected from the original pricing plan), $3 per square foot for a contractor, $3 per square foot of cement, and $3.24 per square foot for sales. Since 17,000 square feet are predicted to be remodeled in the first year, marketing expenses for year one total $55,080. As I walk downstairs to the kitchen, I hear the noise of a knife hitting the cutting board. Breakfast, the most important meal of the day, my brother says as he cuts the meat. He then gets a measuring cup and fills it with oatmeal, adds a little bit of water and heats it up for a couple of seconds and takes it right back out. He then begins adding some honey on top, this is going to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. Nasa s Space Exploration When one thinks of space, one is always left with questions because humanity can still not describe it fully. When attempted, the general public describes it as an area in, which Earth exists and is made up of solar systems consisting of a sun and planets. But nowadays, space has turned into so much more; with recent discoveries space can be seen as a living system in which there is a possibility that other life besides humanity is present. In the past space travel was said to only be able to send drones or robots past the moon, but with recent advances the transport of humans is closely becoming a fact. These advances in science are driven by the recent discoveries like the fact that life was once present on Mars. However some among humanity... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the arguments comes from conservative people of various faiths. Their argument follows the belief that God only created one planet of life, causing any scientific theories related to life outside of Earth to be rejected, since it would disprove the belief that God created Earth. Another argument is that the money used to fund NASA s space exploration could be used in a better way. According to Piers Bizony, I have for some time considered space research a gross waste of money, time and effort that could be much better applied to the management of our own planet. (9) This argument is understandable however the fact that global warming, and rainforests depleting is occurring provides more of an incentive in finding another planet with life. It would allow for a rebirth and have the world start over, since both of the effects are a caused by humanity s daily lives. A third argument is that the Earth has not even been fully discovered yet so it makes no sense to explore outside of it. According to Gary Westfahl In short, the history of our species powerfully suggests that progress will come from continued stable life on Earth, and that a vast new program of travel into space will lead to a new period of human stagnation. (11) This argument is true that Earth has still not been discovered, but Westfahl fails to acknowledge that with the study of Earth like planets we learn more about our universe and our planet. This allows for the study of two subjects with one planet ultimately leading to a greater understanding of the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Rhetorical Address Logos, pathos, and ethos have been existing to empower and strengthen our writing. In this rhetorical analysis essay, logos, pathos, and ethos that are used in the Annual Address will be clearly identified and evaluated. The Annual Address written by Joseph Jackson discusses the issues of discrimination and racism. It was written and delivered at the 84th Annual Session of the National Baptist Movement. Unlike many others back in history, Jackson believes that actions should be taken place before any demanded result. Jackson appeals to his fellow race to take action and adds credibility to his claims by using historical examples from the past. Also, Jackson makes personal connections with his targeted audience, black people, which builds trust between the speaker and the reader. We will be examining the context of the this speech and Jackson s perspective and claims. The Annual Address starts off discussing the foundation of this nation. Into a few paragraphs, he addresses the civil rights struggle and the reason behind it. About half of his speech address some advice and suggestions for the future of the black people. Joseph Jackson writes the Annual Address, telling the black people to put an action in their beliefs and for justice, in a way contradicting King s perspective on peaceful protests. In page two, Jackson states, What is this struggle for civil rights? I answer, it is an effort of American citizens to get full equality of opportunity. It is the resolution and the determination that there shall be in these United States one class of citizens and that is first class citizens. This is a struggle to adopt in practice as well as theory the concept of man on which the Declaration of Independence is based, and to fully implement the Federal Constitution, one of the greatest documents for human freedom since the writing of the Magna Carta. The civil rights struggle is a struggle for full freedom, justice, and equality before the law. It is a struggle to bring from paper the lofty ideals of America, and to apply them in practice to the lives and actions of all Americans. In reality it is America s struggle to be herself, to fulfill the highest promises of her being, and to build a social order after ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
