4. I added a flash at the bottom of the page, because after researching
different magazines I found that this can draw your audience in as it
will benefit them, also its something eye catching for the magazine.
5. Here my lead article fits just next to my main image. I used the white on
black technique just like NME does, and other magazines such as
kerrang etc. I only slightly placed it over my image as I didn't want it
covering to much of her, as you can see its a very similar layout as NME
and the lead article on Lily Allen. The white on black technique you can
see on my lead article and NME’s is strong to the audience as it makes
the lead article bolder, and draws the readers in.
6. Even though I have three cover lines on the right hand side of my
page, I chose to put the on the left hand side which is also named
the left third. i did this like NME because this is the main part
which the audience would see if it was on a shelf in a shop.
7. My mast head is placed in the top left hand corner, which is
common with most magazines such as Q. I used the stroke tool for
a black outline to enhance the letters to make them stand out, this
is common which most magazine of pop genre. Also like Q
magazine I wrote a catch title underneath just make the masthead
look neater and give it something extra.
8. 1 Just like Q I put my mast head next to my contents title, i added the mast head
just so it will stick in my audiences mind when reading through my magazine.
Just like Q I also made a Contents title just so they feel that they are being
directed correctly through my magazine, and so they will not get confused at any
stage.
9. I only used 3 images on my contents page, this is so I could keep most
of my focus on the text. I made my page numbers extra large to give the
layout more effect, and to give my audience more guidance to where
they want to go.
I used various colours on my contents page. To make it more interesting seen
as I have a dark coloured background.
Just like Q my lead article page was placed separate from the rest of the
text, so I had more focus on it. The image behind the lead article text is the
model from the front cover and the person the lead article is about.
11. Just like the Q magazine DPS, its simple just like mine, all of the
focus is on the main image and the story because that’s all that’s
there so there cant be anything overthrowing the audience.
Because of my story being sad and emotional I used a black
background so it set the tone almost for the audience. My target
audience said this was something they liked as they thought
everything fit in well with the image, and layout. They also said they
liked it because it compliments the magazine such as other like
Q, kerrang and NME.
I used a two column format just like Q because it makes the
layout look more professional, and neat. It also makes it easier
to read for the audience. I made the first letter of the article
larger because its something I found that's common in most
magazine it gives it a better effect, and also it tells the audience
where to begin reading the article.
12.
13. The model I used maintained a laid back approach to my magazine which is what I
wanted. The use of colours on my contents page I was told from audience feedback
was appealing because it made it look interesting and draws the readers in. In my DPS
I lowered the opacity which made her look more serious as it blended it her skin tone
but highlighted things such as her lips and eyes. I dressed my model in clothes that my
audience might find revealing, this was to emphasise her story on my DPS , and show
her random and laid back side. The fact that my model is holding a cigarette in the
front cover, I thought set a different image, and I was told this by people I had shown
my front cover to. I think it really entices her character and once again outlines her
story on my DPS it should also appeal to some social groups as it will represent their
characters as its different and enticing , it also makes the image look very natural
which I think looks better than a image that looks to prepared for.
14. My article on my DPS I believe may represent some social
groups. The article is about a woman having troubles and
resorting to alcohol and drugs, some people that have had
or is having the same problems may relate to the story, and
find it helps and motivates them into further life.

16. NME distributed by IPC media
Is a magazine I concentrated on, and
aimed my magazine in its direction. I tried
to stick with its layouts and colour
styles, also its laid back approach to
music. I created my own names for my
artists so I cannot compare them, but
however I over emphasised my main artist
like NME does, by pasting her on every
page. Another reason I would say my
magazine is similar to NME is by the use
of colour scheme. My front cover is very
bright and eye catching, and NME always
uses a bright image or bright
backgrounds. Its also changes its colour
scheme, whereas a magazine such as Q
is known for the red and white colours.
Another reason I chose NME is because
of their music genre, which is why I based
mine on the pop genre in the first place.
So my magazine I believe IPC could
distribute as it will gain competition with
other magazines such as kerrang, and I
focus on all the point that they cover in
their magazine.
17. Whilst creating my magazine I also
looked at Kerrang, another world
wide music magazine. the reason I
didn’t follow kerrang is because I
had a different target audience in
mind when I was creating my
magazine. I think BAUER media
wouldn’t publicise my magazine
because I focus more on solo
artists, where as Kerrang focuses it
whole magazine on bands, and the
heavy metal music. This was not
something I wanted to follow
however their designs and colours
of their magazine I took an interest
to. I think Kerrang would find a
magazine like mine (if published)
and NME competition as they have
different target audiences, but are
both very popular.
