An easy and direct walkthrough for using our chat feature
Step #1• Arrange a time and date when your entire group can meet and IM (instant message) on eCollege• Log-in to eCollege• Test the “Live” chat feature before meeting with your group• If you don’t have an icon to click on in your group, then you need to contact the eCollege team
Step #2• Click on your group as demonstrated by the green circle on the previous page• Make sure you are entering the chat during your group’s appointed/decided time and date• If no group members are present after 10 minutes, post a summary of our class discussion and signoff (Remember: I can see if your group-mates were logged-in)
Step #3• Click the icon circled in green on the previous page. This should take you to a chat screen.• If you do not have a chat icon or the chat screen does not appear, please call the following number and explain the problem: 866-656-5511 or see troubleshooting on the next page
TroubleshootingIf your icon does not appear, try the following to solve the problem:1. Lower the security settings in your browser2. Try another browser: If Explorer failed try Firefox3. Turn off your popup blocker4. Update Java Script on your computer
