PUBLIC POLICY LUNCHEON:
ECONOMIC STIMULUS PACKAGE: WHAT’S IN IT FOR US?
Fremont, Calif. - The Fremont Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present “The
Economic Stimulus Package: What’s in it for Us?” on Thursday, April 30th at the
Fremont Marriott from noon to 2:00 p.m. The keynote speaker will be Russell Hancock,
President and CEO of Joint Venture Silicon Valley. His address will be followed by a
panel discussion on specific aspects of the stimulus package and how our area and local
businesses can benefit. Our panel will include:
 Michael Elkin, Assistant District Director, Small Business Administration - speaking
about how local businesses can access Federal Stimulus funds and benefit from other
provisions of the Federal Stimulus package
 Daren Fields, Economic Development Director, City of Fremont - discussing the
City’s own local stimulus package and how the City will benefit from the Federal
Stimulus package
 Dennis Murphy, Vice-President and Site Leader, Amgen Fremont - discussing
aspects of the Federal Stimulus plan that will benefit biotech firms and the companies
that provide them with products and services
 John Scott, Vice-President of Business Development, Solyndra – discussing how the
Federal Stimulus package benefits Solyndra,“green tech” in general, and the local
economy
 Patricia Williams, Vice President & Director, Merrill Lynch's Silicon Valley
Complex - discussing the Stimulus Package and how financial institutions will
partner with individuals, businesses, and government entities.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions of our speaker and panelists.
