- It’s time to take a quick trip around the world and see 10 innovative intranets in 10 min… so we’ll need to take the jet!
- We’ve heard lots about all kinds of design today and more tomorrow but what makes an intranet different? Why aren’t they quite there in terms of design?
- the intranet is still coming along behind in lots of cases. The good news is that the gap is closing
- Innovation for me is a mix of originality (in the intranet world) and impact on the business and it’s usersIhavent quite got around to all 500 attendees at the conference yet, but a special shout out needs to go to those that may have worked on any of the examples today. Ian and Octavia if you are in the room, seek them out and find out more.

- How many of you have ever spent longer than you’d like finding a carpark? University campuses are the worst!Well QUT have made it easy….linking to their parking system
- How many of you would love to know what your kids are learning at school? Their strengths, areas for improvement, upcoming assessment, look back to previous years and see regular comments and input from teachers? Well Calgary board of education have done it..having everything from kindergarten to year 12Each student gets a personalised public school experience.
- Here, students can write notes about their own goals, strategies, and progress – complete with the ability to add images and video. This profile is available for a student’s teacher to view as a way to keep up with each learner. Students can comment and post updates about their education, creating a timeline they can reflect on as they move through the school system.
- Teachers no longer have to bring together the guiding documents, the most significant and authoritative resources are available on the resources page.
- Barclays have 45K staff in the customer network. Their intranet authenticates the user through their staff number. As you can imagine security is paramount.22% uplift in employee engagementStaff can keep up to date with news and personal development when it suits themThose of you that have ever managed an authoring community – colleague generated content has increased from 0 to 124 best practice videos of bank’s key processes and are viewed on average by more than 400 users a day
- Available on mobile devices – a bank employee recently did a travel insurance quote whlist on holidays skiing – it was that quick and easy.
- With a large percentage of their workforce not in front of a computer CCE, mobilising news saw a 50% increase in readership
- Approving and requesting leave was the next most obvious option for mobile based on staff needs
- Followed closely with the payslip app.. Replacing paper and all this delivered in 9 languages
- Klick Health – Digital Health Agency… The locator lets you know where employees are normally seated, if they are out you can subscribe to an alert to let you know when they are in the office – creepy!
- "You've just come out of a meeting with a potential client. Based upon that face to face conversation you have a better understanding of what their particular requirements, challenges and expectations are.
