3. Rugby is a physical contact sport. It´s played
on a rectangular field 100 meters long and 70
meters wide. It´s based on making the most
points taking the ball to the ground behind the
goal-line of the opposing team. Doing so is
called try and gives 5 points. At the same time
you can perform a conversion, ie, kick the ball
to make it go through the goal pos. Do it gives
2 points. In this sport you can only pass the
ball back, never forward, unless you use the
foot.
The game lasts 80 minutes, divided into two parts of
40 minutes each. There are different ways, but the
best known is the "rugby fifteen", where obviously
there are fifteen players per team.

4. RUGBY CULTURE
Rugby is a sport that requires a lot of strength and speed
because you need physical contact. Although it could be
considered violent, is a sport that enforces much the rules
and promotes values such as friendship, respect, sacrifice
and discipline.
The decisions of the referee are highly respected and
players do not try to cheat with performances. At the end of
each game, players from both teams always eat together.

countries have more tradition in this sport.
6. VI NATIONS
The VI nations is a tournament involving national teams of
Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France, England and Italy. The winner of this year was Welsh, and
more titles country is England, winner of 26 titles (6 of them shared). It is probably one of the
best known competitions worldwide.
7. RUGBY WORLD CUP
The tournament is one of the largest
international sporting competitions in the
world, along with the FIFA World Cup and
the Summer Olympics. The current world
champions are the All Blacks, who won
the tournament held between September
9 and October 23, 2011 in New Zealand.
The rugby world cup is played every four
years and involves 20 teams.
New Zealand is the country with
more titles and is known because at
the beginning of every game,
performed a dance to intimidated
their rivals, called Haka. They also
are known as the “All Blacks”.
8. RUGBY IN CANTABRIA
In Spain rugby is making a hole between
people. In Cantabria same thing
happens, more and more teams. Here, the
team best known is the "Independent Rugby
Club" of San Roman, near Santander and it
plays in the “Euskadi League”.
