  17. Katie The Cool School Challenge received EPA’s 2009 national Clean Air Excellence Award for its ‘impact, innovation and replicability’ chosen from 125 applicants. Also - awarded the 2008 President’s Environmental Youth Award in the Rose Garden in DC, following which Redmond High School students met with Senators Cantwell and Murray. Mike Town, the Redmond high school teacher who originated Cool School Challenge, is awarded the 2009 Teacher of the Year by North American Association of Environmental Education.
