Editor's Notes
Welcome and introduction – Good morning, everyone! My name is Nicole Forsythe and I’m excited to be with you today. I will be teaching you about social bookmarking, what it is, and why you might want to use it, either as a student or in your work. We will be using the online tool Delicious.
Question / interaction: When I say “social bookmarking” – is that something you’re familiar with? If you could give me a green check for yes, or otherwise a red x.
Social Bookmarking is: Social bookmarking is the practice of “bookmarking” (or saving) website URLs in an online environment that allows for bookmarks to be accessed regardless of the physical computer or browser that a user is using. Social bookmarking is closely allied with Web 2.0 and social networking. Users can not only have greater access to their own bookmarks, but they can share their bookmarks with others, search other users bookmarks, see the popularity of certain URLs, and organize their own collection of bookmarks with tags.
And just another question – how many of you have used delicious at all before – either you have an account, or maybe you’ve just visited the site to find links or whatever.
This is the homepage – creating an account.
Here are my bookmarks.
Here is how you save a link
And here is my network
