2. TYPE OF FILM
Genre- teen drama/horror
Budget- relatively low budget due to unknown actors, director and minor
production company.
Nationality- American/British
3. TARGET AUDIENCE
Target audience equals teenagers aged between 15-19, the certificate will be a
15 as this enables a larger target audience, with no compensation on content
as there will be no foul language and only partial nudity. The main
demographic is teenage girls, as the twilight franchise was very popular, the
darker teenage vampire sense of Hunger should have a good reception.
4. PURPOSE OF TITLE SEQUENCE
The purpose of this title sequence is to introduce the main character as
mysterious, seductive and dark. The mise-en-scene will ensure the genre is
acknowledged as a teen horror film. The mood of the title sequence will be
mysterious and romantic. The title sequence will only acknowledge the story
and not begin it, as a teen vampire who seduces young teen girls to sustain
himself. The location of the title sequence will be in the bedroom of the
teenage boy.
5. TITLES
The opening titles will appear in transition cuts to black from the images
appearing on screen. First showing a love scene between the vampire
protagonist and his prey, then fading to a black screen on which the titles
appear as words forming from drops of blood. The font will be easy to read
and relatively plain to give a contemporary feel.
6. SOUND
I aim to use a soundtrack that is noticeable at first, with a significant bass to
identify it is still a teen film with a dark twist, the song “Let me sign” by
Robert Pattinson is a perfect choice as it has a quiet intro, a noticeable drop to
signify the mood of the song, the electric guitar keeps the viewer reminded
that it is a teen film, and the light vocals do not take away from the actual
music and give a dark feel to the song.
7. PRACTICAL CHALLENGES
The main practical challenge I will face is to find a teenage girl willing to co-
star in the scene which requires her to be topless, if there is no-one willing
then the 2 actors in shot will have to be clothed, which will take away some of
the attention and the title sequence will not be as intriguing as I had hoped.
8. DESIRABLE RESPONSES
The desired response is for the main demographic (in this case girls aged 15-
19) to feel curious about the title sequence, and envious of the girl in shot, as
it is most teenage girls „dream‟ to be romanced by a mysterious, dark and
attractive teenage boy, they will be left wanting to see more by the cliff-hanger
ending of the sequence.
