MY PHILOSOPHY OF
TEACHNOLOGY
WHEN THIS COURSE BEGAN I DID NOT HAVE
MUCH OF A PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHNOLOGY
BECAUSE THE MOST THAT I USED IN
HIGHSCHOOL WAS POWERPOINT AND ONCE
IN A WHILE THE SMARTBOARD. AS A RESULT I
FOUND ALL THE DIFFERENT TOOLS DIFFICULT
AND A HASSLE TO FIGURE OUT. I FOUND
MYSELF INITIALLY DECIDING THAT I WAS
GOING TO USE LITTLE TO NO TECHNOLOGY IN
THE CLASSROOM. EVEN THE FIRST MODULE
WAS DIFFICULT DUE TO ALL THE TOOLS THAT I
HAD NO CLUE HOW TO USE.
FIRST REALIZATION
• THE FIRST THING THAT I REALIZED WAS THE FACT
THAT THERE ARE MANY TOOLS AVAILABLE THAT
HAVE THE ABILITY TO ASSIST YOUR LESSONS.

• IN ADDITION TO HELPING A TEACHERS PEDAGOGY
THESE TOOLS ALSO HAVE THE ABILITY TO
INSPIRE THE CREATIVITY OF STUDENTS BY
PROVIDING DIFFERENT WAYS THEY CAN
APPROACH A PROJECT.
CHANGING OPINIONS
•
THE FIRST TOOL THAT CAUSED MY FIRST
REALIZATION WAS THE GOANIMATE TOOL.

• THIS TOOL CAUGHT MY ATTENTION AS
SOMETHING THAT I WOULD LIKE TO USE IN MY
CLASSROOM. THIS TOOL REALLY PROMOTES THE
CREATIVITY OF THE STUDENTS AND CAN BE A
VERY FUN PROJECT TO DO.

• AS A RESULT I BEGAN TO SEE THAT THERE ARE
MANY TOOLS OUT THERE FOR TEACHERS AND
STUDENTS. TOOLS THAT CAN SPICE UP LESSONS
AND PROJECTS THAT WOULD OTHERWISE BE NOT
EXCITING.
SECOND REALIZATION
•

THE SECOND REALIZATION THAT I HAD WAS THAT
TECHNOLOGY HAD THE ABILITY TO CREATE A MUCH MORE
FLEXIBLE STYLE OF LEARNING.

•

I HAD NOT REALIZED THAT THERE WERE THINGS LIKE
GOOGLE DRIVE IN WHICH ALLOWED FOR MULTIPLE
STUDENTS TO ACCESS DOCUMENTS AND COLLABORATE
WITH ONE ANOTHER FROM SEPARATE PLACES.

I ALSO REALIZED THAT IT COULD ALLOW FOR MORE
FLEXIBLE LEARNING THROUGH CREATING ACCESS TO
COURSE MATERIALS ONLINE.
EXCITING DISCOVERY
•

THE TOOL THAT FIRST CAUSED MY SECOND REALIZATION
WAS THE EDMODO TOOL.

•

THIS TOOL DISPLAYED THAT THERE ARE NOT ONLY TOOLS
THAT PROVIDE DIFFERENT AND CREATIVE OPTIONS FOR
PROJECTS, BUT ALSO TOOLS THAT ALLOW FOR TEACHERS
TO POST QUIZZES ASSIGNMENTS AND NOTES IN A SECURE
PLACE.

THIS IS AWESOME FOR STUDENTS AS THEY ARE ABLE TO
DO WORK AT THEIR OWN PACE ON THEIR OWN TIME. ALSO
FOR TEACHERS, IT ALLOWS FOR STUDENTS WORK AND
PROGRESS TO BE ACCESSED ONLINE.
CONCLUDING PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHNOLOGY
IN CONCLUSION I HAVE RESOLVED THAT MY PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHNOLOGY IS THAT TECHNOLOGY CAN BE
VERY VALUABLE FOR THE CLASSROOM. IT HAS THE ABILITY TO PROVIDE A MORE FLEXIBLE STYLE OF
LEARNING FOR THE STUDENTS, WHILE ALSO HAVING THE CAPABILITY TO INSPIRE CREATIVITY IN THE
STUDENTS. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR MYSELF AS A TEACHER IS THAT I WILL NOT NEGLECT THE VALUE THAT
TECHNOLOGY CAN HAVE IN MY CLASSROOM. WHILE I STILL BELIEVE IT CAN BECOME A DISTRACTION, I
THINK THAT IF IT IS USED WITH GOOD PEDAGOGY, THEN IT CAN BE VERY EFFECTIVE AND BENEFICIAL TO
YOUR LESSON.

  • 7. CONCLUDING PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHNOLOGY IN CONCLUSION I HAVE RESOLVED THAT MY PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHNOLOGY IS THAT TECHNOLOGY CAN BE VERY VALUABLE FOR THE CLASSROOM. IT HAS THE ABILITY TO PROVIDE A MORE FLEXIBLE STYLE OF LEARNING FOR THE STUDENTS, WHILE ALSO HAVING THE CAPABILITY TO INSPIRE CREATIVITY IN THE STUDENTS. WHAT THIS MEANS FOR MYSELF AS A TEACHER IS THAT I WILL NOT NEGLECT THE VALUE THAT TECHNOLOGY CAN HAVE IN MY CLASSROOM. WHILE I STILL BELIEVE IT CAN BECOME A DISTRACTION, I THINK THAT IF IT IS USED WITH GOOD PEDAGOGY, THEN IT CAN BE VERY EFFECTIVE AND BENEFICIAL TO YOUR LESSON.
