Picture Report FRESH15

Editor's Notes

  1. The number of partners for FRESH15 was larger than ever. Since we moved city , we have a new set of Host sponsors: HN- Hotel group and the Hesperia Hotel - local sponsors like JMT for furniture, Eventica for Artistic entertainment, Clementina for video report, ITB as a DMC, … Also not the Monday dinner Host venue, catering company and bus-company. Several other partners are loyal, Meeting Design Institute partners. The budget was similar to last year
  2. The signage inside for the different rooms also included some signs with the FRESH partners.
  3. As with all fresh Events, we distribute the catalogue that contains all Meeting Design Institute members and the major sposors of the FERSH conference.
  4. A motivational opening presentation set the scene for a relaxed and open conference. “The excessive amount experiments and demonstrations is typical for the laboratory that FRESH is. It will inevitably lead to some failure and that is fine” said Maarten Vanneste. This made most people relax about the busy days ahead and opened them to absorb, not only the content of presentations but also their experience and not judge on immediate applicability.
  5. A demonstration of the experimental character of FRESH 15 was done right inside the opening session. The panel of interviewees was producing the first stage of the co-created sculpture on stage and in full sight behind the speaker.
  6. Representatives of MPI, ICCA, PCMA and AEVEA were all present and are invited to use, copy, mash and mingle their experience of FRESH.
  7. Introducing new and innovative tools, driving change in meetings and events is the true passion of the FRESH conference’s founder. Meetings and conferences can be better and must become better in order to survive.
  8. The Award procedure and ceremony at FRESH is introduced duting the Sunday opening session by Gerrit Heijkoop who explains participants what to look for and what to expect in the coming days. Three of 6 awards are given bij the audience at FREHS.
  9. The number of participants was higher then ever with 214 registrations. This includes 94 meeting planners. We had 10 badges that were not picked up which is the lowest percentage of no-shows ever. As always the participants were very happy with the level and mix of the group leading to very good networking and conversations.
  10. The Sunday speed dating further energized and prepared participants for the coming days of discussion, debate and conversation.
  11. And this is what the FRESH conference is all about: people meeting people. From different continents, with different backgrounds, different businesses and a similar interest in designing objective based and measurably better meetigs.
  12. Like moths attracted to a light… The co-creation of cool and never ending music is a very attractive activity. Many participants tested the new wonder box at the outside closing drinks on the Sunday evening.
  13. Several keynotes in action. A professor on Design thinking, a speaker coach a design practicioner, An organizer of an ART and Technology conference, An innovation workshop designer from Accenture center of excellence, a startup of speaker management software.
  14. Even the coffee breaks were well done, spoiling the meeting professionals with small snacks.
  15. The terras was set up with nice seating areas which were used by all participants.
  16. The outside food stands included some great dispolays of vegetables and fruit. The focus of the lunches were very much geared towards healthy food, brainfood.
  17. Nuts galore! Typical brain food, encouraging everyone to eat healthy. During lunch, no alcohol was served.
  18. The Hotel challenged the Chef and kitchen team to be creative and think healthy food. They succeeded and were proud, taking some pictures of their own work.
  19. The outside Lunch buffets were all catering for walking lunches with several stands offering small plates, a fridge with sushi boxes, fruit in a bowl etc.
  20. The display area for JMT, the FRESH furniture partner, proved to be a great meeting place. Many break-out sessions took place in this area, rather than the intended area with chairs.
  21. The break out sessions also used the area with chairs and these were set up in many different ways like in this example. Here we have the forum set-up with two opposing blocks of participants.
  22. Together with MPI and the Catalunia Convention bureau, we organized an evening program based on FRESH15. A selected number of FRESH speakers went to the MNAC (the Catalunia National Museum of Art) to give a sall group of local participants a sample of the FRESH program.
  23. The core team from left to right the speaker manager, the online producer, sales, marketing, meeting owner, project manager, on-site producer.
  24. The FRESH participants were taken to the Museum by coaches n Monday evening. Here we had welcome drinks outside on the terrace with a view. The group of the local evening program joined the FRESH participants.
  25. The dinner in the MNAC was a standing dinner and participants had access to the museum. May participants went to do the tour of the impressive art collection.
  26. Eventica, the FRESH art performance partner did a Living painting at the MNAC, after doing several at the FRESH15 venue: Hesperia Tower.
  27. Creating modern art in a Museum: Jarno made a set of paintings and we organized an auction for a good cause.
  28. The Museum’s catering partner did an amazing job in presenting a walking dinner with a broad choice of exquisite Spanish dishes.
  29. The networking zone where all partners got some space to represent themselves. A place for networking, business and coffee!
  30. The Sartup area with about a dozen of startups, allows small companies to be present at FRESH15 and learn from the experts. The startup area in the Networking zone is one big discovery zone fpr meeting planners and designers.
  31. In the networking zone most partners have a table and a rolup banner: ‘table top stands’.A nice exception was the stand of the FRESH15 host sponsor NH-HOTEL GROUP.
  32. The learning carousel takes all interested participants through a speed dating session with the partners and startups. Doing this at the beginning of the conferences is meant as an orientation for later conversations.
  33. During the Learning Carrousel, participants get quick demo’s, presentations or key messages for later discussion. Each presentation takes 5 minutes, and than we move on to the next one.
  34. After every round in the Learning Carrousel, participants vote discretely for ‘the best tool award’.
  35. Session on performing art for meetings involves some participant activity.
  36. Every session had some experts sharing their key tips and innovative idea’s. Just take it all in…
  37. Networking is far to important to leave it to coffee breaks and lunches… At fresh people network any-time and any-where.
  38. The mobile app, the networking / appointment system, the FRESH Website, all running on our own powerful WiFi network.
  39. Atibvities were everywhere to be experienced so participants can decide if and when they can use these best.
  40. Jugling as a group activity, its offered as a service by one of the FRESH15 partners.
  41. A co-created master piece is made element per element by the participants and assembled by the artist that offers these as a meeting activity for either workshops or during breaks. It’s a form of 3D brainmapping…
  42. Live Paintings were created during every break by the Eventica Team.
  43. A short Flamenco vs hard-rock battle pops up and disappears.
  44. This Eventica Time keeper will get you back in session on time…
  45. Performances sometimes take us out of our comfort zone.
  46. Jarno Ketunen, captures the essence of an individual or a situation with a few brush strokes.
  47. The mesmerizing and now Award Winning Joshua Samson with the rare Hung, a finger drum instrument. Joshua was also part of the session on the Power of Music in meetings.
  48. The Living painting artist from the Local artist collective EVENTICA did a great job at re-creating the FRESH Theme logo ‘art and inspiration’, on the head of the meeting owner.
  49. The be well wit ILEX room was operated bu Two experts providing a different experience during every break. A pre-breakfast yoga or a breathing exercises during a coffee break. Short but with impact on participants AND with an experience more of a possible group activity for future events.
  50. The breakout sessions could use the ‘normal/standard’ set-up with chairs but many happened in the furniture demos space from JMT. The modern design furniture allowed for a relaxed and open atmosphere.
  51. Speakers like Carolyn Clarck from PCMA would walk around, between the several salon setups in a very relaxed and spontaneous way.
  52. Two pre opening clinics about speaker training / coaching attracted about 20 participants. They would get a theoretical context and could then see how one speaker would undergo a two step preparation foe a presentation that ultimately was given a third time right after the couching. “My opening presentation became much better” witnesses Maarten Vanneste, “Although I felt not much could be improved, I must admit the impact, een of such a short clinic was tremendous.’
  53. The Meeting Design Institute member meeting takes place before the opening of the FRESH conference and aims at networking and collaboration amongst member companies. Several members start integration and collaboration amongst each other at the FRESH conference.
  54. Plenary sessions gave space to morning keynote presentations, opeing and closing sessions.
  55. One of the toppers of the conference was the South African Michael Jackson who was helping the opening presentation to take shape, did voice of god, and a key note presentation on Changer, on top of being the FRESH15 MC.
  56. In the workshops several other training possibilities in meeting design were presented: The Event Model generation canvas, Meetovation, Into the heart of meetings, and many other trainings in meeting design. Working with actors, viusl, music and more.
  57. The reporters for both a text report and a social media reporting had a full time activity.
